    Tire/wheel combo's for Summit

I very much like the stock tires, not a big fan of the chrome wheels though. For a second set of wheels/tires I have decided to go with these. I like the black wheel look. And these are not the "X" version which is wider and not quite as tall either I believe. I also like the fact that these wheels have 3/4 inch offset. And the fact that these are a few dollars less than the x's.

    I have em

They are veryyy soft tires. Almost as if they have no foam at all in them

They are definitly not any kinda offset. They almost have negative offset and sit in really close to the chassis

Great way to increase ride heigt though

I dig the offset. A deeper offset widens the stance.

I got these last week. I don't know the offset but it's deeper than the stock Geodes.

Well, the description of the wheel stated that it has a 3/4 inch offset. So i'll be dissapointed if they have zero offset when they arrive. Have to wait and see. Should be here early next week.

    SPECS: Tires-
    Diameter: 6.89" (175mm)
    Width: 3.43" (87mm)
    Wheels-
    Mounting Dia.: 3.82" (97mm)
    Width: 2.75" (70mm)
    Hex Size: 17mm
    Offset: -0.76" (19mm) I hope this isn't negative offset! but i noticed the -
    Backspacing: 2.14" (54mm)

EDIT: order cancelled, going with the "x" version as they DO have the recommended 1/2 inch offset. Almost $20 more though.

I have the X's. They fit correctly and feel great though I haven't been able to test them thanks to all the snow.

The original Trenchers are good enough for an ERBE to give my Summit on stock tires a run for its money in some extreme terrain. I don't want the extra width or rotational mass on my Summit, so I will be going with the non-X version.
jamann seems to do okay with them too.
I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.

Just upgraded to a Summit from a Slash. Does the standard/stock wheel have an offset? Is this required? or just an option? what is best for turning radius?

    Thanks,,

I run trencher X's and really like them. The extra width of the tire itself can be both a plus and a minus depending on the situation. But, for the most part, they get excellent traction on the rocks and in loose dirt. Better than the stock tires in the dirt but on rocks the stock tires are a bit better. I definitely prefer the 1/2 offset VS the Tech 5 wheel... but its always about personal preference.

According to Traxxas, the Geode wheels have 1/2 inch more offset that the original Revo style wheels. This means that the overall width of the Summit is an inch wider. Looking at photos on the forum you can find pictures of Summits with wheels that have less offset than stock(certain proline wheels for one). You can also find people that experience body rub when using wide tires on wheels that have less offset than the Geodes. It really depends on where you drive and your style.

Also you may already know this, different manufacturers have different ways of expressing the offset of a wheel so do you homework when choosing aftermarket wheel/tire combos.

    Hope this helps....
