I'm not sure what "scale looking means"
I have an Integy with heatsink on the motor, and the Traxxas Velineon one on the ESC... nothing real special, but they work...

I think he means like what the real baja trucks use. The ones that are coming out of the back of the body

Exactly. I have seen it done a bunch and like the look. Searching the interweb for "electric fans" is a real crap shoot.

I wonder how they would hold up after flipping end over end 10 times.

    ohhhh...
A small axial fan mounted upside down might give a decent look.
    ...? small computer cooling fans?
    Radio Shack? Grainger.com? Newark.com?

Probably about as good as my RPM light bar. haha

The way that I want to mount them I think they will be almost totally protected.

I think that I'll put them about where the top 2 are in the pic but more like the size of the single one in the middle

I have bought from these guys before, good fans but you would have to make a grill/guard.

From what I've looked at so far are square fans in the 1-1.5" range. Finding a grill for them seems to be the most difficult part. All of these sights that you guys suggested have fans in the right size range but no guards. Unless I missed them.

Somebody out there that builds computers or something must know where to find exactly what I'm talking about.

Found these for 1/10 scale from integy.

3 problems though; don't like giving integy my money, not available till "late march", and they don't look quite right. Maybe I'm too picky.

Would've been the scale build of the century. I've seen some builds that are close but they all weigh around 10 lbs and thats a bit much for me. Hate to send one of those builds into a cartwheel.
