My tool set has a driver that is slightly bigger than the one used. I can usually get it out with that.

Just had that happen to my 22 pinion gear yesterday. I used a dremel to cut right into the pinion and used a small flathead. Be careful as due to the size of the screw, mine ended up splitting when I tried to turn it. Ended up dremeling more into it but be careful not to cut into your shaft, finally pulled on it to get it out. Was worried for a moment that I was stuck running 22/50 gearing

You can slide them off by prying with a screwdriver. You wouldn't be stuck. Sometimes I just pry them off, then remove the screw if it is stripped.

This would not bend the shaft? I wanted to do this yesterday but was afraid of bending the shaft so I went the dremel route.

I have done it many times without ever bending the shaft.
