It's been done a few times before & not all that hard. If you have space for a micro servo to release the chute in a controlled way using a third channel or an 'auto' release that pulls the chute when the airflow changes from it's usual path

Edit: this has been done on a couple of speed run cars rather than use motor braking

Rc junkie, i know you have a newborn and all, but I DEMAND a video of an 8s pass! Please! Also, do you lose telemetry with the xl2?

Yet another reason I hope Traxxas will add a 3rd (or up to 5) channel switches to the dashboard.

If you are going to drive this at speed, I find the watercooling (not trying to be rude) a waste of time and added complexity for no real net benefit. Probably a net loss because of added weight and powerdraw. (I know it's not much) . As for doing it just to see if u can...great. Might help if you plan running <50 all the time in an Autocross type situation. I've run my motors at hi speed for miles in warm summer weather. Airflow keeps it surprisingly cool even at Full throttle for minutes on end in my slash with no NACA duct.

You're one good crash away from having a spare NACA....

Wait! You could go through the top, or if you can direct it, the side Ferrari style.

Lol, No doubt, if I crash it though, I probably won't be able to find whats left the Duct! Your homemade underpan has inspired me to try that. Going to get artistic with a little piece of softwood, dremel and wire harness plastic flexitube to make homeade duct for homemade pan. Might even try to do a sharkfin like yours as long you didn't patent it?

The naca duct only cools the exterior of the motor at speed. In order to cool the motor, more heat is created. With junkie's w/c system, the motor is cooled without creating MORE heat. This is especially helpfull when running the motor beyond what it was designed for (8s). He can make a pass, then allow the motor to cool (at rest) before the next pass.

Point taken and understood. When needed I just placed a hairdryer on the cool setting against a stopped hot motor to shorten dwntime. Liquid or air only the exterior has direct exposure to cooling. Unless I'm unaware of a new internally liquid cooled motor. Don't get me wrong I wish this guy all the success possible in regards to his liquicool project its pretty neat. If I can't run my XO at 80 plus for a few miles straight in one shot and stay cool i'll consider doing what he is or just buy that TCS system.

Pricey but they have very close tolerances apparently the closest you can get. I bought the Boca Ceramic "Lightning Ultra Seal" kit for Slash for $125. Have had no issues with them yet.

orange seals are ABEC 7, which are the highest tolerances in bearings, I bought a set for my rebuild.
They are silky smooth. The Avid and Acers are ABEC 3, maybe 5 at best.

Thanks for the thread jack PBO, he's never going to drive it anyways. That timming system looks nice. I wonder what they did to make a Rustler into the shape of dragster? New Tires, body and wheelie bar?

Says tube style chassis so it's definitely not a rustler chassis.

Has anyone tried to take the front shocks off completely and put a set of turnbuckles in place of the shocks I was thinking when I go to the airport (perfectly smooth) I might do this becuase I could adjust the height to the point were it was as close to the ground as possible

you talking about replacing the shocks with turnbuckles?! If you do it, take baby steps till you feel how it will drive.
