Ocean, river or both ?
HELLO FRIENDS.
Yesterday I bought one spartan to me is my first boat hope it will be good to play.
I am from Brazil and where I am living there is in one side a river and other a ocean without waves.
Can I play in the ocean with salth water, or only in the riiver ? What can I do to have not corrosion problems ?
Best Regards

The spartan can be run in salt water, just be sure to flush the cooling system and rinse the boat down with fresh water each time you finish running it. Salt water is corrosive on metal parts. The electrical connections will also be susceptible so inspect and clean them as needed as well.
Rivers and streams are not good places to run rc boats. If you flip the boat or a component fails, the current will sweep the boat away.

I run my boats in salt water all the time and have for many years, first thing to do is put dialectric grease on all electrical connections and screws and nuts...interior and exterior. After running the boat for the day in salt water, (I recommend bringing fresh water with you) spray the entire boat exterior with fresh water, then hand or blow dry. Connect the boat water lines to fresh water and flush water through them for a good 5 minutes. Remove the flex shaft, clean and regrease as needed.
I bring a battery operated yard sprayer to perform the flushing but you can use a hand pump type as well. I also bring a 2000 watt Honda generator to charge batteries and operate a blow drier to dry the interior and exterior of the boat when done with the washing, flushing of the boat. Just make shure all salt water residue is removed..... if not... you will be replacing parts and connectors.
And as hog mentioned, I don't think running in a river is a good idea unless you have a big power boat to retrieve the smaller one.....

You can flush it by running the boat in freshwater as soon as possible after running. You can use a gas hand pump to flush out the cooling tubes. Not the best method but if your like me and have to drive out quite a distance to run your boat in the ocean, get freshwater from say a water bottle, put it in your mouth and blow through the tubes. I don't have a spartan, but on my gas boats I make sure to blow through each tube about 5-6 times, each time putting more water in my mouth.
If you have to drive out far to the ocean you might want to invest in a cheap water pump for your boat, and bring along a water bottle when you drive the boat and just rinse the water bottle through it. Thats what I do with my gas boats because they all have pumps. You can get the electric pumps online, however when I used to run electric I got my pump from a local pet fish store.
River running isnt good, unless it's swamp style where the water is still. If it;s decently fast current, it won't even be fun to run your boat, and chances are you will get into problems if you try and retrieve the boat by swimming.
