Mamba SCT 2400 on 3S with 25T Pinion and 50T Spur (videos)

The 25T pinion definitely woke it up, but it still doesn't have the top end of the VXL system on 22p/50s

The batteries in my speed gun were dead, but I got 62.8mph on my GPS

Can't wait to step up to 4S

BTW, has anyone ever tried a 26T pinion on this setup?

The 25T just barely fit in there and I don't want to spend another $10 bucks only to find out it won't fit

Not sure why you would think that the speed would be comparable to the stock motor

    3500kv vs 2400 kv

22t pinion with the 3500 would require a 32t pinion with the 2400 for the same speed

Difference is you can run the Castle motor without heat issues

Anyone can do a couple of speed runs, keeping it cool for an entire pack is another matter

Using the app on my phone. Your current setup is getting you approximately 69mph on 4s it would be 92mph. It says the VXL setup was doing approximately 100mph! I know that motor didn't last long with that gearing. The 2400 can handle that gearing a whole lot better that stock. What happened that you upgraded your motor system?

I was hoping it would be a little closer given the gearing, but I know there's plenty left in the 2400

On 22/50, I was pushing the limits of the VXL as it was just a few mph higher than when geared with 19/54, so there was no point in stepping up another gear

Anyhoo, what's the largest pinion that will actually fit

The 25T I have now just barely fit and I'm not sure if I can squeeze a 26T in there without some hacking

I've learned that trial and error works much better than speed calcs

There's no way the VXL could hit 100mph without dropping it out of an airplane lol

I upgraded because of 2 loose rotors and 1 smoked ESC

It was all covered under warranty, but I figure I can stick it in a roller with more conservative gearing and run it as a backup

I've hit 71mph with the VXL and my main goal is to see those speeds without melting anything

Hopefully, 4S will get it done

Nope, I think the pinion it comes with is 18T and the stock spur is 54T

Here's a video of the stock VXL on 3S using a 19T Pinion and 54T Spur

What sort of suspension setup are you running? I keep having issues with mine where the whole car twists under load and usually ends up flipping sideways. My best run so far on stock electrics with 3s and 19/50 is 104Km/h (approx 65mph).

RPM front arms and 50wt. shock oil up front.

    Everything else is box stock.

Yep, same shims from day one.

Only reason I changed the arms in because busted one slamming into a tree and the shock came loose, so I just refilled it with 50wt. and replaced the seals.

Once you get them warmed up, they stick pretty good
Notice how they spin much more when cold, but start to hook after a few minutes..

Ok, not to completely derail your thread, but Is there any chance you are the same 98 Snake that built the off-road golf cart? I believe it was back in the early 00's???? . Wmsorrell (aka dzydvl on various other forums)

The videos pretty much show the session times.

The pack is good for much longer, but I don't want to push things until I get my temp gun back

I guess you missed the first video with over 12 minutes

Those videos were made back to back because I wanted another camera angle

I typically run hard on 3S for 10-15 minutes without any heat issues, but like I said, I'm taking it easy until I can make proper temp checks with my gun

Now that I'm geared up on 4S, there's a bit more heat, so I try to cut my bash time down to 6-8 minutes with multiple temp touch tests in between just to be safe
