With a CD, if you want braking to the rear tires you need the rear brake pads and rotor. The CD is a FOC only that it can split the power between the front and rear whereas the FOC is just a gear on the output shaft.

You'll need rear brakes for the CD and only one brake with a FOC.

The FOC comes with the CD and has to be used. The rear brakes are also a must with the CD and for racing you will want rear brakes anyway. Before you even install the CD change the diff to heavier oil, 500K is what you will want for the best results.

If I remember right, installing the center diff, is in effect a forward only conversion, in and of itself.......

The FOC comes with the CD kit and is needed to operate. That is the gear that is in contact with the CD gear. Both are wide gears with alot of contact area. When you buy the FOC by itself it comes with its own output shaft which I believe does not accept the rear brake setup. In the CD kit I believe it comes with the gear only and installs with a grub screw pin on the shaft that is there.

They both come with two gears. One goes on the primary shaft and is used to drive the output shaft.
