    Clicking from the "MASH" :P

I was just running the MASH out in some pretty harsh slush and a smooth snowy road, it was going about 20 mph on the road then it kinda just blew out and started clicking. I thought the pinion came loose from the spur or ate through the spur but its not that. k its the slipper clutch I think but how could that have came loose and by that much out of nowhere? and if it isnt the slipper clutch what else could it be? and how do I go about fixing this because i want to get out for another run within he next few hours at least. thanks.

    Clicking...

    1) servo
    2) differential(s)
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

does the click noise increase with the speed? probably it is a stripped diff, also check for debris under the center shaft cover.

well it was really diry under there and a pebble scraped a good chunk of plastic off of the spinny thing.. brain fart.. so it seemed fine after i cleaned it out so i put that back on and then he motor back in place and its still clicking and it seems like the slipper clutch but I wouldnt know... now what?

There is not anything to click in the slipper.

Have you checked the servo or the differentials yet?

Are you sure there is not any debris in the spur area?

Could just be the pinion isn't meshed correctly with the spur gear?

*Edit* just re-read the first post, sorry.

Is it clicking when you take the motor off?
When you disengage the front/rear drive shafts? Figure out where it's coming from 1 step at a time, you'll get to it.

yeah absolutely no debris under the center cover except for 3 pebbles, I cant see anything around the spur, the servo is fine so i guess the differentials... how do i check? the clicking sounds like it is definitely coming from the gearbox though..

You can tear it down if you want... it is very very rare for anything to click in the transmission.

take note that when i put the little sucker upside down and manually turn all the wheels simultaneously theres no clicking and they go smooth but when i hold it in the air right side up, theres clicking and stoppage.

but either way it runs like crap with the battery in

If it is the ring and pinion, you could shim it tighter... you do have the bulkheads shimmed, right?
Even if you shim it tighter, chances are you are going to need a new ring and pinion IF it is the ring and pinion making the noise.

Diagnosing what it is... that is up to you.

well ive only had it for a month so Im really nooby.. so the sound has to be in the front diffs if it cant be the gearbox. since you're saying theres a chance i can just tighten and shim this stuff together once i figure out how to get in there , I'll give it a shot i guess

There is a front and rear differential.
    It could be either.
It takes shims... Associated 21141 I believe... to shim your bulkhead.

K thanks a lot man. sorry for being a bug but why does the clicking sound come from the middle when the diffs are front and back? the spur and the gearbox are making all the clickity grinding noise. I dont know

Sound can travel through multiple medias.
The drive shaft is directly attached to the transmission.

Again, if you feel it is the transmission, feel free to check.
The transmission in these are not complicated at all.
