    2s lipos vs nimh

I bought some 3s lipos this weekend and they are just way too powerful and get the mottor extremely hot. So should i stick wtih my nimh batteries, or try 2 cell lipos? Ad whats the difference in performance between those two?

I just started using 2 cell and I detected added power along with greater run times.

If your motor is getting hot, then you need to try a smaller pinion gear. The difference is 2s lipos are 7.4 volts and 3s are 11.1 volts.

Gear the car correctly and you will be fine on 3s

    Start with 11/54

If geared the same 3s lipo will be 50% faster than 2s

or if you like 2s will be 66% as fast as 3s

    Cheers

Crusey can you comment on how much faster you think 2's are over the stock nimhs?

Oh in the last sentence i meant difference between 2s lipos and 7 cell nimh. By the way i stripped the grub gear that holds on the pinion

    Volts = Speed

    2s lipo fully charged - 8.4v
    6 cell nimh fully charged - 9v
    7 cell nimh fully charged - 10.15v

The nimh pack may actually be faster for the first speed run

As soon as the voltage of the nimh pack drops its a no contest win to the lipo

Lipos maintain a higher voltage under load

Lipos will allow more amps to be drawn throughput the duration of the pack, meaning more consistent power

    Cheers

crusey i think your volts are way off.
    i know 2slipo = 7.4
    6 cell nimh =7.2
    7 cell nimh= 8.4

    Why is it stuck ?

Drill the grub screw out and get it off if you have to

Thats why you are having heat issues

Even with stock 13/54 gearing the motor will get hot when bashing

    My volts are correct mate

The voltages you listed are nominal only

A lipo cell is 4.2v fully charged straight off the charger

A nimh cell is 1.45v fully charged straight off the charger

    Cheers
