KV in motor?

what does KV mean? This is a newb question but any help would help. like is 3900kv big? Small? Need some help here.

KV is a term to represent rpms per volt

3500kv = 3500 motor rpms per volt
3500 @ 11.1v = 38,850 rpms


Kv rating alone will not tell you how capable a motor is, it will simply give you an indication of the speed you can expect to reach on a certain voltage

A motors size / power rating is more important in determining if it will be suitable
