first TQi and mamba monster extreme esc installed

im working on putting the tqi in for my erbe and the Xo1's esc. the esc isnt a direct fit due to the cap bank, but ill make it work and post pics later

Nice are you going to carry over the speed sensor too? It might need to be re-calibrated if it even can be.

Well I would need a new gear.cover which probably isnt available yet but im gonna get.the.gps when it comes out

this was the problem i encoutered

becasuse of the new caps being lower than the rest of the esc it wouldnt screw into one of the slots

so i cut a bit off of the esc holder thing


then after that i was pretty much set.

so i noticed that this esc uses the red white and black wires where as old MMM used orange brown and red. i also noticed that the connectors on the plug into the rx have the thing to make sure you put it in the correct way which old ones didnt have.

i also had to take off the rear air vent and cut off the tab on one of the battery doors


but it worked, only have voltage and temp at the moment but when the gps comes out ill be getting that asap or the gear cover for the rpm sensor.

and soon ill be getting the XO1 motor for my erbe, too bad my diff blew up after 2 years of it going strong

Oh wow that motor will probably eat axles for lunch I see a double back flip on command will be watching for updates

You MAY have the first TQi, but not the first XO1 ESC/Motor combo on an ERBE.

Nice write up. Would the cap bank and esc fit better if you rotated them 180*? That motor has been squeezed into a revo before. It can be done.

Nice, so lock that thing and see what happens.

PeterV is claiming the ESC will limit speed, but I'm thinking it can't know without that rpm sensor, because the limiting isn't based on motor rpm, but spur rpm.

I'm really curious what happens if you lock it, then control the ESC with a different rx, without the rpm sensor... maybe use the stock traxxas link rx, you can still link to the TQi with that.

i dont see a lock option for it so... but i need to try it with other receivers and such

it would fit better flipped but then it wouldnt fit in the holes, but this way works for me. and you cant rotate the cap bank without flipping the esc because there is a very short soldered wire from the esc to the cap bank.

ok thanks for saying that it fits i wasnt sure because didnt know if it had slightly different dimensions from the old 1717

I didn't say *I* did it. LOL!

I am 99% sure there were no mods required for it to fit the ERBE.

And yes, I can only imagine how much fun that amount of torque would have to be!!!
