running the evx-2 off one battery ????

i have a summit tranny / motor/ and ESC
i have put them in a scale truck, but i don't have room for two batteries.
is there a way to run the stock ESC and the stock motor off one battery?

i will be using a lipo, so i will have to add a cut off, but thats ok

any help would be great

There is a wiring diagram floating around here somewhere showing the EVX-2 with one battery. You'll need to use a jumper plug on one side though.

Hi, if you run one battery, a lipo, does the LVD still work correctly if its not a 4s, say you run a 2s or 3s, will the esc detect the voltage and adjust lvd accordingly or is it only set for 14.8?

The lvd measures the 2s voltage from the bec batt I believe as that one drains a bit quicker.a 3s is not a good idea for the bec side.

Wait, I'm looking to doing this setup for my car.

I'm going to use a SINGLE 4s 6000mah to power the car and its servos, and then in the other battery tray have another 5000mah 3s to power my FPV gear (camera, transmitter, servos, receivers etc.. all from one or two CC BECs) but I am also curious how the LVC works on the EVX 2.

Can I run the 4s in to the lvc on the non-bec side, and it will still know when to cut off even though it's now a 4s instead of 2s? I'm not having a good day mentally haha.

Be careful,a few reports of that causing sudden smoke syndrome.the evx2 does not seem to like that.I'm just guessing it has some thing to do with how it's wired internally.i smoked one myself by trying to feed it from the non bec side.instant ground wire melting

I've called Traxxas support and left a message, dunno if it's a holiday in the States today or not though, but awaiting a call back to see what THEY have to say about my options. Looking at the basic diagram though, it makes perfect sense to jumper it, but it must have something to do with the 4s going in ONE side - making the ESC expect 8s, which of course would result in sudden melt down. Boo.

When you tried it, and melted the wire, what battery did you put to it?

After looking at how it's wired inside the ESC, I've learned that doing the ABOVE would most likely result in shorting the battery = bad idea.

BUT NOW I realize doing that means the BEC gets 14.4v as WELL when it originally only wants 2S... oh man, stupid EVX2.

This way the ESC gets only 4S on the MOTOR side, and the internal BEC isn't used. Then I have another battery (the one I'm using for the FPV) power the cars servos and receiver, and send the signal to the ESC.

When you tried it, and melted the wire, what battery did you put to it?

I was using a 2s pack on both sides.
I was running a hi voltage servo off the bec.I thought hey other side will drain them more evenly.had a harness to pull power and just got signal from the Rx
Turned it on ...instant smoke no more insulation on the ground wire.i had the bec hooked up both ways 6v fed everything.then 7.4 to the servo only.
Worked fine until I tried to get power from the Non bec side
