Pavementsurfer please continue to update your build and findings I printed your shopping list out, that means danger for me LOL

Would be nice if Anza found a way to stay involved here and shared info, I do realize the rules otherwise about 'support'. I am a little confused on the shock tower options, waiting for a reply from Anza. The RPM arms do look quite nice! I have some parts but.............looks like I need to commit to get that chassis in hand!
Thanks for sharing your info, I find it very helpful......................and maybe a bit costly but

No problem... and you can bet ill keep this updated as I build it.

I JUST placed another order with ANZA for front and rear hinge pin braces and 2 sets of their front axles. One for the slash and one for my pede. Hopefully theyre stronger than stock... it says "lighter" on their website but I don't care about weight... I want them strong. We we'll see.

I Figure I would help out on this thread with some pics as I've currently built the same setup.

What you're going to see is the following.

    Anza Chassis
    Anza Rear Axles
    Anza Caster Blocks
    STRC Hinge Pin Set
    Team Associated Servo
    Futaba RX
    Proline Protrac
    Proline Power Strokes
    Proline Front Bumper

Other parts I've bought but still haven't added to the truck are

    Anza Front Tower Brace
    Anza Rear Tower Brace
    Anza Rear Hub Carriers
    Anza Front Axles
    Toadz RC Sway kit
    Tekin RS Pro 17.5 Brushless.

The way the car sits now, with body and tires it weighs in at 4.76 lbs.

    Heres the pics:

Toadz aren't on the truck yet. I am trying to dial in the suspension before the sways go on.

Do you think this kind of chassis would be a waists $ for a basher? And do you think that it has the same strength without the side panels? Sort of an extended pede chassis. What's the benefit to running anza carriers over trx or strc? This is a great liking build so far, looks like a dominating chassis set up!

I don't mean this to sound mean... its not what I'm saying at all. But this thread doenst need help... it just need a faster postal service. hehe. Ive got EVERYtHING ordered and NOTHING has arrived yet. Im gone till friday so hopefully by then ill have at least some of the parts to get things started.

The only parts I do currently have are the tires, front bumper, one set of wheels, the body (which I can't trim or paint without the chassis) and the FLM Diff... dang eh... nothing I can actually assemble.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, so heres my opinion.

This chassis on a basher is a little silly. Not that it takes away the ruggedness of the slash in stock form, but in my mind I would ask myself "why in the world would someone put that on who isn't racing?"

This is a RACING chassis, same as the Slice kits. The best and safest bet would be to do an STRC conversion or something similar. For all the money you would spend making it an anza chassis slash, you could make one heck of a basher for much cheaper.
The benefit of running the anza kit is that it's lighter, I don't have my weights with me, but I can say that i'm atleast .5-.75 lbs lighter with the anza than I was stock. YMMV though.

My recommendation to you is that you order the parts, have someone in the states send them to you, it'll get to you much faster that way.

I have a friend who paints all my bodies that are in canada. He's ordered bodies from multiple places and they take an average of 3-4 days longer than it would for me to buy the bodies, and ship them to him using the same shipping method.

Why aren't you able to trim and paint the body without the chassis? My painter does just fine without having the chassis with him.

It's understandable you want to have the glory of this thread all to yourself, The only reason i'm in this thread is to let you know, you're going to run into some issues with the anza set.

the TRX and STRC carriers have less adjustment points than the Anza.

Thanks for asking, Anza got back to me with an explanation............

I would imagine that your findings and input about 'your' Anza build are going to be helpful to some but it may 'confuse' this thread a bit perhaps for those following and bounding questions off of Pav-surfer?

Your own thread on your build may give better insight to your goals and findings as I see you are keying on weight as a factory which I feel is a benefit to a build like this.

If I feel I have anything beneficial once I start my build I will share thoughts and pics in a separated thread.

I agree that this is not really a build for a 'basher Slash' but more a racer or LCG tuned course drivers car. I'll be keeping my other Slash and changing a few things on it for more a basher model

None of these comments are meant in a negative way, just my opinion to share and learn from..........thanks!

I didn't mean to reprimand you forester... I was simply pointing out that if shipping was faster to canada (which is certainly not the seller fault) I would already have this sucker built and have pics up. thats all.

I didn't see any "issues" you listed in your build. But I always like to sort out issues myself. I think its helpful for multiple people to attack builds on their own as they all come up with different ways to solve problems.

Truth is, it is nice to be the first to post pics and stuff in your own thread. But I'm certainly happy to see a finished build so I know what to expect.

I prefer not to cut or paint a body until I have the chassis to make sure its fitting correctly. Sometimes I like to trim wheel openings slightly differently than what the body MFG suggests depending on how the body fits on the truck (pede bodies for example, I always move them forward). I also like it that way so I can get the mounting post holes perfect. Ive never been happy with bodies I've mounted after painting. I also like to visualize the clear body on the truck with the wheels and tires... just look at it for a second and ponder what it should look like. Then design the paint scheme, then paint er up. So hopefully next week ill be able to get some of that underway.

Yup, you may get to know me as silly then, cause that looks like a street basher if I ever saw one and when I get my mits on one, ill be sure to post all the lovely scares and gouges I can collect. Jk, well kinda lol. If I choose to build one of these chassis up and hit the ramps, you don't want to put your truck in my way while calling me silly,
My point is only to determine paves thought on this chassis strength, we have a similar, hammer down kind of style. My track trucks seem to take on more damage than a basher. Also, the possible extended p2de interests me quite a bit.
Strc lcg wont last a day in my yard! I've completely trashed rustlers in a single pack. No way im gonna extend that platform and see what comes of it. I had a hard time keeping a stock slash in one piece as a basher so I do see this as interesting. I don't see any harm in building a basher out of a low center chassis either, this just makes things sweet while flying flown the road and carving around stuff....... yes bashers do that too. Its messed up to think of a part as a purposed piece, like that's all its good for. All the best creations come from out of the box thinking. Some folks will take offence to a closed minded statement that depicts their thought as silly. I did, looked red in the face kind of offence. Some would consider spending this kinda money on a race chassis very smart for a racer, but putting a vxl back in it a bit "silly" so .....

Hey dread... heres my thought on this thing from seeing pictures only. It looks to be built of a very similar design to a 1/8 scale buggy or truggy with the front and rear being braced to the centre of the aluminum chassis. Its smaller and lighter but maybe not as strong? The aluminum HAS to be stronger than the plastic rustler chassis... has to be. And since its all one piece as opposed to the STRC being a 2 section plastic chassis/aluminum extension setup where there will be a weak point in the middle I have to think it would be stronger. Weather or not it could survive your special brand of abuse... hehe... well that remains to be seen. Honestly, in my hands this truck will never get more than a few feet off the ground. I have a parking lot I bash in all the time (or did with my Blitz). Its all paved with a few kicker type jumps made from deformities in the pavement and curbs. No ramps or anything. So I won't be a good judge of extreme durability. HOPEFULLY at some point ill get to run it on a track (thats why I bough the 2nd set of off road tires)... when i do I promise i WILL test its durability. Im a terrible track racer cause I always want to go for the BIG jumps, weather the truck can do it or not. Totally smashed my Hyper10SC in 2 packs... it was brand new and was wrecked when i was done. Hehe... couldn't help myself.

So there you go, I think its going to handle WAY better than a regular slash and have far fewer weak point chassis wise. I think it would have to be stronger than an LCG converted rustler and I can't really say any more. I think you should get one and test it though man... then we'll know for sure.

Don't take this as me "attacking" you in any way shape or form. However, Your reading comprehension may want to take a step back and look at the parts listed above the pictures. I in fact have a tekin RS pro setup for this truck. You might be asking WHY it's not on there yet, which to most is a good question, so I'll answer that for you. It's kind of a long story, I hope you can follow along.

Day one I got my slash, I immediately started breaking things. At that point, I decided I was going to mod EXTREMELY heavily on this truck, and make it competitive. First, I bought the Slice A3 chassis, a day later I found out Anza was shipping their kits and my lhs had them. So, I hadn't even run 3 full battery packs through my slash, and had ordered almost EVERYTHING I could throw at it for mods. My reasoning for keeping the VXL system on board is because, this is a BRAND new truck, the chassis/suspension isn't NEAR sorted out to where it should be.Why have the power, if I can't put it down? Unlike most racers, they keep throwing parts on a car, not even knowing what they do, or have changed against the factory parts. Understood?

My reasoning for saying an anza based slash is silly for bashers is for one reason. COST. What you may or may not realize is, replacing parts on this kit, over and over like you'll be doing will be EXPENSIVE in the long run. Sure you'll break x, y, z thing...next thing you notice you'll break them over, and over again. Do you REALLY want to be spending all that money over and over again?

A friend of mine has an anza slash, he's run it 4 times, and is a typical basher. 3 out of the 4 times he's needed to replace the side wings and atleast the front, or rear tower.

I'll let you do the math as to how much money he's wasted by being "silly" http://www.anzarc.com/product-p/anza5821.htm

Right on KSB, although I do agree with foresters "heavy bashing is not for this chassis" statement. Just that paves lot basher will probably be treated better than most guy's racers, so, in this instance, "bashing" is a relative term. Pave has other trucks for pounding on hehe.

Man, I got a HUGE pile of parts in the mail yesterday when I got home from my business trip. Not everything but I should be able to start on the chassis at the very least. I might get to it tomorrow. Ill be sure to post up lots of pics.

Hopefully by mid next week ill have everything and can get this baby built.

I was hoping most of the parts came in for this project while you were away all week. Maybe it will be mostly built by next Friday so I can see it first hand.

That is EXACTLY the case... and here's the proof.

Heres the pile of parts that came in. Still a few more parcels to receive before I can complete it but this is certainly the bulk of it:

This is how the chassis itself comes in its package, then below how it looks with all the bags open and parts laid out:

Now, I skipped a few steps (hehe), here is the completed chassis only. The ONLY non ANZA parts in the next few photos are the proline steering setup and the STRC bulkhead. Everything else is whats included ONLY with the chassis. I havent opened any other bags yet.

First is an overview of the chassis:

A close up of the front section. Note: the 2 threaded posts sticking up just in front of the servo are used to mount the stock slash bumper support. Im using an RPM bumper so these will be removed:

Finally a few shots of the rear end:

A few notes on this installation so far:

First, every part fit PERFECTLY. There were no mods and no fiddling needed what so ever. All the parts have an absolutely top quality fit, finish and feel. Anno is nearly perfect, no rough edges. This stuff is as high quality as I've seen.

Second, NO hardware is included beyond what is needed to do what you see in my pics and the bulkhead is only set in place to see how it fit, NOT mounted as no screws were provided. So, if you, like me, dont start with a slash and are trying to do a build like this from scratch you WILL need a screw kit.

Third, to install the carbon side plates I strongly advise not tightening anything... get all the screws, spacers and nuts started loose... then tighten them. The "rear bulkhead" ill call it, also secures the side plate with 2 screws... these must be left loose to get the rest of the mount screws and spacers in.

Fourth, the hardest part of this build so far was getting the cool little aluminum bars that hold the battery straps in place, through the loops on the straps. It honestly took me like 35 minutes to do the 4 of them. It was frustrating... but worth it... those are some cool and innovative parts.

Finally, make sure you route your servo wire BEFORE you start installing the screws for that side chassis wing. The servo wire sits between the aluminum chassis and the carbon wing on the outside of the wing mount bolts and spacers. Its very clean but impossible to do once the wing is mounted.

Other than these few points, there were no surprises. Even the servo mounts are adjustable for different size servos. So the larger traxxas servos will fit just as snug and tight as the smaller Savox I'm using.

I got another box in the mail today with a bunch more parts and my screw kit so I can get alot more done on this truck. Hopefully this evening, if not, tomorrow evening for sure.

Now your're cookin'! Yes the attention to detail by Anza looks excellent, nice to hear the fit is as it should be as they are the more expensive guys with an LCG chassis to offer but quality seems to support price here.
Say, what work stand is that, I am needing one.........?

Those cinch rings are always a bit of a pain LOL
    Gunmetal front bulkhead looks sweet
Keep going man, more pics and info when you can please and thanks for sharing this build.

Heres the next little batch of parts I got today. All I'm waiting for is the transmission and the axles/and braces from ANZA. So hopefully later this week. But I'm going to assemble everything I can now and hopefully get the body cut and fit so I can start painting.

No front bulk included... thats an STRC part I had in there to see how it fit and looked. But it WOULD be nice if it was included... hehe.

No trans or 2nd ANZA order today. I have the bulkhead and both shock towers on now. I also fit the RX box and installed the RX. I just don't really want to go any further and mount the arms if they have to come off again when I get the pin braces... so ill probably wait. I can build some links and the FLM diff so they are all ready to go when the rest of the stuff arrives.

Got my 2nd order from ANZA today. Axles and plates for the front and rear. This means I can fully assemble the front of the truck now. Hopefully I can get that done tonight and get a few pics up. I still don't have the transmission I ordered at the same time I ordered all the rest of these parts so I'm really hoping that comes before the weekend. I want to paint this weekend. Might have to put some old tranny halves I have sitting here together for the interim to get everything mocked up.

Anyway, ANZA has proven to be very fast with shipping. Im quite impressed so far. The quality is among the best I've ever seen.

    Pics will come soon.

This is looking really good! I have one of these chassis on order, that will take the place of my frankenstein LCG chassis I've built right now.

Since a lot of this is somewhat new territory for me and I have not been able to reach Anza on the phone and they have not returned my email from well over a week ago I need a little help.........(might be a little frustrated by that too)

I wish their website listed the part #'s of what is included in the kit but it doesn't and I think the kit includes the servo mounts, can anyone verfiy that for me?

Also, will be running a stock tranny case or maybe come across aluminum one but what rear hub carriers do I want....1deg or 2deg?

Am I correct in assuming the front castor blocks at -5deg will give me better handling potential.

The purpose of my build is to give me a LCG chassis that is highly tuneable to learn from, don't have the luxury of having any place to race yet nor much time available to do it. Lightweight and strong are goals to.

Sorry Pav-surfer hope you don't mind me inquiring on you build thread......if so freely say so and I will understand

    Not at all.
The chassis DOES come with servo mounts. Mine came with 2 sets. I could see no difference in them at a quick glance so I assume one set must be a mistaken extra.

The rear carriers depend on what arms you'll be running. Since the protrac arms I'm running have toe built in already I went for the 1 degree rear carriers so I won't have too much toe. Im hoping I don't have too much as it is. If your running stock arms you may want to go with the 2 degree.

I have no idea what the degree change on the front castors will do for the handling of the truck. I went with the zero degree thinking since I didn't know what the difference would be, I might as well stick with stock.

I spent my lunch hour getting the front suspension parts installed on my chassis. There were no instructions with the castor blocks and after getting back to work and checking the website I see that I installed them on the wrong sides... so ill have to fix that. The king pin setup they have is both slick and frustrating. The single bolt that holds the camber link and axle carrier to the castor is cool and appears to be a very solid setup. But the little spacers used to move things up and down are difficult to get the pin through as your building. Its not a big deal, once they are on its all good. But its not something you just throw together.

I have also found my protrac arms are really really tight on the STRC bulkhead and the ANZA castors. I will have to take them off and shave them down so they move freely once i get everything laid out. I will have the front end together and pics up here tonight for anyone interested.

Put some time into this bad boy tonight. I got the front end completely finished other than the steering arm. Which I have but havnt sorted out completely yet.

Overall things went together smoothly. No real surprises that weren't the result of my own mistakes or oversights. This part of the build really had less to do with the ANZA parts than it did with everything else... Heres the pics:

The ANZA front axles feel very strong and light. Of course, there is NO way to tell just how strong they are until I get out and run them... and not on this truck as it won't be based really. But I have a set of my 2X4 pede also and it will get abused as soon as the snow melts. Which hopefully isnt any time soon.

Just lovely! That is coming along great. Sure do think those metals and carbon fiber components are looking great together. Lots of details to follow through on, I like what I see here.

Are you happy with the fit of the front Proline arms to the STRC bulkhead now?

No... I'm not. I did shave it down a bit more but I'm not happy that I had to do it. It was REALLY tight. I didn't want to go too far and end up with slop so I left it on the SLIGHtLY tight side but it still moves freely. I guess its better than having it come too loose and having to shim it. Ive never had this problem before but it could just be different parts.

I can say this, I wouldn't hesitate to use those ANZA castors on other trucks. They are sweet. Small, but strong and I really like the way the link mounts on the top. The ANZA pin kit is also nice. It appears maybe the pins are a hair longer than they need to be... but that could be on purpose so if you tighten the lock nut all the way it doesnt pinch the arms. Either way, for the money they are a great buy.

I find it interesting how important those carbon fibre side wings appear to be to the stiffness of the chassis. At first I thought maybe they were just for looks or to give you a place to mount your electronics. But after installing them and fiddling with this truck for a week I can see now that they way they are mounted and designed they are an integral part of this chassis strength. at first glance it might seem like the chassis could be weak because its so flat. But the way the side rails are lifted of the aluminum chassis and connected to the rear bulkhead really creates a "boxed" style setup. Its very very stiff. I think it could survive a ton of abuse.

Thanks.......I was contemplating using STRC front Alum arms to mate to the aluminum bulkhead and liked that they put Delrin inserts in the arms though there goes another price bump
Good to hear of your satisfaction continuing on all other Anza components. I am thinking the lighter overall weight of this will have you tinkering with lighter springs on the shocks for setup. Did you catch the new shock valving by MIP???

Pave, the screws and nuts from the Proline bellcrank look like they are very close to rubbing against the camber link screws and hollow balls. Is it just the way its pictured or is this an actual problem?
