    Smallest pinion for BB

Hi, for 540 motor, may I know the smallest pinion can be used? I checked Brushed version Mini Summit, and the smallest stated in im is 16p. I wanna consider if can furhter gear down to 12p i
so that I dont need to flip tran. Thank you for advice.

You can not get a 16t pinion on a titan 12t powered mini summit. I have one and the lowest I can hear is 23/55. Which isnt low enough for me. The reason is the motor will hit the rear shock mount bolts. A 540 size brushless motor may be short enough to clear the bolts bit I doubt you could gear any lower than about 18 or 19/55 at best.

    I have a 19/55 on mine, but I am using a shorter motor(integy 55t) the trx 12t motor I think wouls be 20 or 21/55.

Thank you for the information. I have the short can 540, and it is 4000kv which is same as stock 380vxl. It is too fast to me if running 3S. So I am looking to turn the power to better torque. In Brushed 1/16 Summit instruction manual, the gear chart shows 16/55 is possible, and if can further gear down, it will be perfect. If 19/55 is the max I can go, I will flip tran. Thank you and all of you are helpful !!!

I see absolutely no way to run a 16t pinion... I don't know why they would list that unless maybe its "hypothetical" gearing...

Hi all I really need some help with gearing, Ive read allot of info and have been getting lost in it all. I have a 1/16 summit with the vxl3s system but dont know what gears to use. I want it for crawling and climbing so speed dosent bother me. As it is atm the trans gear is stock 50t (if thats right) and I am going to flip the other trans gears around. I have a couple of gears of different sizes but the one I was thinking to use on the motor is a 31t ? Any help would be great.

stock gearing is fine if you plan to do the tranny flip for crawling... but your top speed is going to be very slow......

And how low a top speed would I be looking at with just trans flip?

20mph with tranny flip? that's hard to believe, it's faster than brushless?
