included pinion

hey guys me again, wondering my merv thats on its way says comes with extra pinion for more speed

now this would equal less torque right, and that would mean less wheelies and less heat on the engine correct, as i wouldnt mind having more speed less wheelies cause that will = less abuse i give to it...

also have you all used this pinion thats included, is it worth using, does it totally kill the wheelies

You'll still do wheelies with the smaller pinion. Traxxas is sneaky about this pinion, they say it's used for "high speed runs" what they don't tell you is that you should only use it for a 5 min. run, using it for the full duration of your battery may possibly smoke your ESC or MOTOR. I would use it only if you put a much bigger tire on. I run mine for about 1-2 hours with the 28 pinion and a 45 spur and haven't had any problems. Only time I ever had a problem with the ESC was with a 31 pinion and 45 spur...Hit stage 1 thermal shutdown after about 5 very long high speed runs.... Just play around with the different combinations to see what you like and monitor your temps on ESC and motor. Hope this helps

Are you going be running lipo? If so 2s or 3s if so the speed pinon which is a 23t I use it because I have 3s lipo and 2.2 rims so it don't overheat

well haha i dont even have anyhting yet it all gets here on the 18th and 19th but ill be running dual 2s 25c 2200mah in parallel

im into mine for almost $480 and dont even have it yet, i have a charger though already as i fly electric planes and choppers, its all in 2 batteries the vehicle and the hop ups, its already almost more then my majorly decked out tmaxx but the maxx i got used....

dont let the black trans fool you its a rit dyed 3.3 all metal geared trans, and it has e-maxx diffs

man ive had everything in the book, with exception to boats, nitro and electric, choppers planes buggies trucks, ive been rcing for about 10 years +

i love the nitro for its obvious reasons, 1 gallon of fuel and i can run all day without stopping, but i saw my buddies merv and had to have one..... i love all rc stuff, end result though i really really love my electric ccpm helicopters

if you are a newbie into it it can get frustrating, for me no i buy peoples stuff cheap all the time they cant get running right and its good to go in 20 minutes, its why you can get used nitros real cheap, people get annoyed cause its got a carberator on it....

like if my brother had my maxx, my god itd be all messed up.... me having it it always works flawlessly

once its tuned for the tempurature outside your good till there is a drastic change, like 30 degrees or more... so basically once its tuned your good....

im kind of a rare breed haha, i love all rc's nitro electric planes choppers, and ill tell you this much if you want a rush and to feel like you really accomplished something fly a plane or chopper, the experience is really really thrilling

yes dont let anyone tell you oh pull start is less equipment youll have to carry, the electric start, weather its roto start, ezstart or a tiger drive system is well well worth having...

um the jato is great but id go with a maxx personally, ive had both and enjoy my maxx's way more... get a max and hop it up some, or get a savage and do nothing to it and destroy everyhting in site stock.... savages are tough... i preffer my maxx though alot easier to work on and upgrade and more parts available then the savage, but if you dont want to do alot of work and more play and harder hits, get the savage...

but if you have the money, imo and want the best period get a losi LST, easiest to work on, better technology then the maxx jato or savage, and itll take a beating just as good as the savage

the losi 454 engine is well known even on the maxx portion of this forum as being the best engine alive....

hpi makes the savage, now the losi lst and savage are 1/8th scale, the maxx a very big 1/10th, the max outruns the savage and is quicker in the turns, but a savage always makes up for it all in all out bashing... the lst beats them all and is as fast and nimble as the maxx..... but once again its $669 compared to $450 for savage or maxx

savage and tmaxx are rated at 40+, granted unlike electrics these are huge heavy vehicles so not usually as fast as electrics

but that maxx i have pictured in this thread will wheelie on the wheelie bars all the way down the road
