Stock motor can push it that fast, you would just need an ESC capable of pushing it that hard.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Someone "new to rc" trying to control a wide, short wheelbase, top-heavy (ie VERY twitchy and rollover-prone) car at 60+mph is laughable. I would advise instead, if you want to be entertained, install some harder tires and enjoy drifting it was designed to do. It's much more rewarding that just driving at high speeds into solid objects.

    Any decent 60 amp.
I am going to install a ********* 60 amp as soon as I have money for them.
(2 1/16's being converted/improved at the same time)

Gotcha. Well as I understand it, you can get this car up to those speeds, just understand it's not a very stable platform like the Jato and doesn't steer well at high speeds due to the short wheelbase. If you add enough grip to actually turn, the car will flip at those speeds. If you keep the grip low enough not to flip at those speeds, say hard tires in the front sticky tires in the rear, it won't turn very well. Good luck with it either way.

Yes, but you can buy from the retailer in Hong Kong for $25.
I would get the card with it as well... a $5 purchase.

I would try 3s before upgrading the motor combo any more. There are a couple options you can pick up. One of the most popular is the Castle sv2 combo.

I would stick with the 380 Velineon like Jimmie said. It will keep the center of gravity down than if you were to go big block.

Here are a couple threads you should check out. There is a user named prototyp and it seems like he has done a lot of research in the area of aerodynamics and high grip tires. Quite impressive I think. Anyways,

The second of these links is more up your ally. There is some good info hear.

This is my setup right now. I'm using 1/16 slash wheels and tires. I drive on mostly rough asphalt and concrete that has gravel here and there so the softer compound helps out a lot with grip and softening up the ride on the rough surface.

My lhs had these in stock. I wanted something for grip driving on the street and be able to use them for minor off roading. (like gravel and packed dirt) I have found though that these tires are not made for high speed runs. Sure they grip awesome but I can get up to 35mph and the tires balloon like crazy. This ends up in rubbing the body so bad giving vibrations throughout the chassis and flipping my car. I also tried running my rally without the body and while this helped because there was no rubbing the pizza cutter tires had no grip because there was hardly any rubber on the road. These tires I say are awesome for 25-30mph racing on road and off with some moderate style bashing.

Here is the width comparison of the Slash and the Rally stock tires.
