    Asphalt RC Circle Track

One of my customers called me for a HMAC quote last week. He was asking for 60 tons, shipped to Kemah. I asked him what the job was, he told me a RC Oval Track. I said "WHAT" ?? He then explained that a retired gentleman was building a private RC Oval Track for himself and his grandchildren.

Well, this past Friday the track was laid. Not sure on the exact length, but each straightaway is 150' and the track is 10' wide, with banked corners.

It's not finished yet. This week, my customer will build up the outer edges of the track with sand, extending 15' away from the track. The homeowner will then seed it with grass.

The homeowner is also considering installing 'catch nets' on the banked corners.

The owner just got into RC, less than 90 days ago. He currently owns 8x Slash 4x4 and a HPI Baja 5B.

Here is the first run on his track, unfortunately the Slash's were on NiMH...

Not even close, this gentleman will be just fine. He owned a very successful tool & die company, which has become more successful since his son-in-law took it over.

My 60 tons of Item 340 Type D - HMAC, is sitting on top of 10" of 1-1/2" 5% cement stabilized crushed concrete base.

My customer will have a total of 2.5 days of labor on the job, so I'm thinking the total bill is between $15k-$20k. (for just the asphalt SuperSpeedway)

I hear about how bad the economy is on the National news, but have yet to see any problems down here in Houston.

Texas economy is still rocking and rolling...
