Broke a fin off my new ESC cooling fan and lost the screw from the esc/steering servo mount.
I can't help but wonder if that was what broke the fin on the fan.![]()

I don't think I broke anything but I opened my rear diff and found nothing but sludge, nothing leak or dripped out. Don't know if that is normal. I should probably check the front diff...
If you read your owners manual you'd see that the front dif is full of oil where the back is also full of oil but it is contained within the ring gear housing. The rear dif should have a modest coating of wheel bearing grease on the pinion and ring gear inside the rear dif housing.
Traxxas writes such great manuals.

I cleaned the sludge out of my rear dif and greased the gears and then filled it with heavy gear oil. It's much smoother than it ever was now. It used to have a spot where it would bind slightly before.
Thanks for info, I think. I will check over the manual again. Is the ring gear casing the same as the rear diff cover? I removed the cover which exposed the ring gears and there was grease all over inside but no fluid. Is the fluid inside where the large gear is still attached to the diff cover?
Sorry to hijack thread!
Broke my first A-arm today and a shock cap.
Good thing my lhs had a set of alloy caps in stock and the RPM arms I ordered will be in this weekend.![]()

Yes it is in the black cup attached to the ring gear. It comes from the factory filled with grease but can also be filled with diff oil to tune it to your liking. If you want a more posi effect, go with a thicker oil. If you want more tight corners, go with a thinner oil or keep the grease.

There's supposed to be grease in the dif cases f/r. The fluid is 30K oil in the front dif housing (round black piece) which is inside the dif case. The rear dif is filled with grease. I've switched my rear dif to 100K fluid to get the positraction effect. Some people use "horsie grease" or STP. The black grease looks like "sludge" after a while.
No parts broken today but my friend broke some.
Ya just gotta laugh, even if they don't. . . .

Twisted the rear drive shafts out with the 3s LiPo yesterday, MIP's will be in this weekend.

Not sure what it is about my pede but the rear part of my bodies have been breaking easily and often, could have something to do with the 3s lipo and MIP induced cartwheels.

Here's a fix that works for this. Cut out a small area around each rear mounting pin on your body (about 1" x 1"). Get a thin piece of say .016" sheet metal from your LHS. Cut out a piece of this to go from fender well to fender well and up toward the back window within an inch or so. I puty 90 degree bends on each side to end above the wheel cutout to give extra strength. Test fit this piece and mark where the mounting pin holes should be and drill out a small screw hole in each corner. Apply silicone RTV to this reinforcing plate and stick it on to the bottom of your truck bed. Put your screws in right away while you can still align it. Allow to drive overnight. You can then cartwheel to your heart's content. You may have to straighten the metal a bit from time to time, but it's quite crash resistant.
I've broken the back end of two bodies around the rear mounting holes too. The last time that happened, I cut out the tore up part and siliconed on a piece of .016 sheet metal I bought at the LHS to the underside of the bed. I pre-drilled the mount holes and also put some screws in to hold this piece in place. It is still on and in one piece despite many cart wheels, jumps landing on the lid, and rear ending a tree. etc. The metal does bend sometimes, but you can just straighten it out and you're back in business. It's definately heavy duty compared to the thin lexan.
Ran 5 packs through her today in a fresh dusting of 2' of wet snow and at the end of it all I tried to right the vehicle by snapping it back and forth with the throttle breaking one of the front stub axle yolks. #6854x. Good thing my lhs had some in stock. Still gonna stick with the stock plastic stub axles in front and MIP's with HPI pins in the rear.
All in all it was one heck of a good day thrashing my pede.![]()

Broke another front stub axle today.
Starting to think about MIP's for the front since I'm starting to like my 3s LiPo.![]()

I've got MIPs on the back and IntegyXHD steel shafts on the front. They come already assembled at half the price, and look like a copy of the same design. So far, no problems except lost one grub screw. I replaced both w/ Traxxas 5145 pin that goes all the way throught the axle and output shaft, and loctited it in.
Broke a front A-arm yesterday and the day before that I broke a rear stub axle housing.
Broke a front stub axle and a shock cap yesterday. Broke a MIP rear axle today. After a few speed runs and constant temp monitoring with a 3s I separated the magnet from the rotor in my stock velineon...
Had a "MY BAD" moment when I had my 3s in her and forgot to put my heat sink and fan on before running.
Cooked the magnets in the motor but luckily I did have my fan on the ESC so at least it survived and my new motor should be in next weekend.
What burns me is that I had the stuff with me in the pit box to prevent that from happening.

I broke the part that comes out of the rear housing and the rear axles connect into them. I think its a rear stub axle? If I buy the MIP set does it also come with the stub axle? It sucks because no one in this city stocks traxxas parts! I have to order from amainhobbies.com good thing it only takes 4-6 days for my goods to arrive.
MIP is a complete axle replacement stubs and all.
Let my dad drive my pede today. He ran it into a curb and broke another front stub axle for me

Broke a little bit more off the body around the rear body holes
So far that's the only breaking I'm doing to it..

I came up to the double and twisted the center of a rear rim apart at the track yesterday. I put my back up wheels and tires on then came off the double and landed in one of the boundary pipes and busted a c-hub and steering block.
Man i need more than 50 characters.
Broke 2 rear drive shafts today....![]()
Bent a rear shock shaft![]()
broke an rear driveshaft, mip's ready to install already![]()
Broke a front axle on the differential side. Also found a tear in one of my trenchers![]()
Broke a front axle again.
First time I broke the front axle I bought one axle assembly and a pack of the stub axles. One stub axle left and I have a brand new set of MIP front axles waiting to go in the truck![]()
Just got my truck yesterday. and i lost a body pin already.
Broke the front axle on the first day. Bought MIPS for the front. Luckily, my LHS had the fronts in stock. They are heavy! Ordered the rear but won't swap that out until I break them. Got to use up the Traxxas parts first!
Rounded out an aluminum wheel hex and it pretty much destroyed one of my desperados
It was pretty funny to watch it flip and have the tire fly off at the same time though

Broke a front stub axle. Later on broke another front axle.
Finally out of spare Traxxas parts and have a set of MIP axles ready to go in :-)

In the most epic fashion I ramped the very base of a small tree with the outside edge of my right tire.
This then sent the truck into a leaping barrel roll. At which point you could see the right wheel Derp out wildly as the truck did a full barrel roll and landed back on the wheels.
Initially it would appear as thought I busted the Tekno steering block only.
Haven't broke anything in a while, and it was 100% worth it.
Broke an MIP rear axel!!! (the pin that holdes the CV together)
this locked up the right rear wheel, sent me into a cartwheel
and broke the wheelie bar
replaced it with a stock axel
and striped the stock motor
it was a spectacular crash though
