    Got my first car!:D

Turning 16 here in just over a week and got my first car. The car is actually my brothers old car but he now drives an Infiniti fx35 for his job(he has to have 4 doors). The car is a 1999 Pontiac Grand-Prix GT Coupe, it is black on black and is loaded. It has the legendary GM 3.8l v6, I like the power it has and it gets pretty good fuel mileage. The car has 138,700mi on it and runs great, it handles really good, I have new headlights on the way and I need to replace one of the foglights(already have the bulb). I call the car Black-Betty so you probably know what its theme song is lol. Here are some pictures of it:

Would like to do a few performance upgrades to it in the future.

Nice man... interior looks clean too. Its hard to find older cars with leather interiors that aren't all ripped and cracked. That one looks to be in great condition.

A set of 20's would go a LONG way... i see theres an amp wiring kit installed... a single decent 10 would be nice in there.

    Nice score.

Too bad your not from ontario canada... I have a set of 20's and a great sub/box/amp combo im not using.

Just keep in mind most drivers have their first accident within their first year of driving with an non-restricted license..... And it usually happens within 3 miles of your home....

Very nice car, keep your eyes on the road for the other guy.

    Congrrats and be safe!

Nice score & congrats!! I Dig the Black on Black! It definitely could use a woofer in the back. Like Pave said a 10 or set of 10s are great. Always think defensive driving and what the other driver is going to do and you will be miles ahead.

Thats my bros old pioneer deck in it right now and when he was in college(2001-2005) he had 2 12in JL subs and a pheonix gold amp, I am having a full kicker speaker system installed on monday minus the amp and subs. I will probably do those in the summer. Once I get a job I would like to do an exhaust and maybe a programmer like a superchip.

Congrats I bought mine first car when I was 15 as well, it killed me for the four months I had to stair at it in the driveway as I walked to the bus stop for school. And now that seems like it was ..... Oh so long I'm not going to figure years on this one lol! Have fun and keep a eye out for the other crazy people out there on the road

We originally bought the car off my brother for my mom to drive to save miles in the suburban we had just got new in 2007 and to save money on gas lol. My mom has this thing about high miles on a vehicle(100,000+) so she started driving it when it had 126,000 miles and it wouldn't start back up because the fuel filter went out so we got that fixed and she hasn't drove it hardly any since. So now the suburban has 80,000mi on it.

Ok I am back after being gone for a while. I have had winter/spring linemen workouts for football and I picked up track&field. I go back on monday and will hopefully be released for my knee but sadly over spring break I broke a bone in my foot on the beach. Now onto the car. I got the kicker speakers in it and it sounds like it has a sub in it! We are going in today to get new brakes and rotors as well as a new gas cap.

just a little forwarning man............ i dont know if the non super charged ones are like this but on the gtp's which are the same engine compartment more or less you physically have to pull the passenger side motor mount to change belts on the car as well as pulling the power steering pump and i think something else. either way my point is it takes forever if you can even do it yourself and if you have to take is somewhere plan on spending probably $200 to get a belt changed lol.

Nope belt changes on my 1998 Grand Prix GT which has the same engine & compartment take 2 minute to change out the belt.

Love the black, she's a sweet looking ride & looks like she's already setup for a sub in trunk!
For brakes I only use the Ceramic brake pads on mine, cost a little more but you can't beat the stopping power.

    Have fun with it.

nice ride, i like those W bodys. i suggest against the 20's-they rub and at 16 money is tight... well it was for me back then, so if you get a flat or break a rim it will cost a pretty penny. also make sure the engine compartment fire recall was done no cost to you just take it to a gm dealership.dont let this happen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CauT2...eature=related and get your check engine light looked at

Yes that recall was done because it caught on fire while my bro still had it but he was able to put it out right away, you can see the burn marks from it on the engine pic. My dad got a new toy(2005 corvette) and my bro that lives in toledo is thinking about buying one to go along with his vrod nightrod so we are going to drive the vette up so he can drive it and im tryin to talk my mom into letting my drive her up in black betty

Nice 'mean' looking car man. I really like the black.
With a little leather cleaner and conditioner, and a little work in the engine compartment you could really have a top notch ride.

im 21 now but i bought my first car when i was 15. it was a 1987 pontiac boneville.

yeah it was the absolute biggest piece of junk to be on the road i think. i bought it for $200 from my brother when he upgraded. i had to replace all of my fuel lines before i could even drive it, the torque converter was bad so instead of being able to drive steady speed down the road it was always bucking and kicking and trying to shift. lets see what else............ oh there was pretty much no weather seals left on the doors anywhere so i got wet everytime it rained or i wanted to was the car. ummmmm i could reach through the side of my car and into my trunk, and also through the floor into the back seat floor board. brakes lines snapped on me one day and i about rearended my own girlfriend. then someone broke out my driver side window so i put a whole nother door on it which was power window unlike the rest. i rigged it up to work but it was super slow and my seatbelt light would come on when operating the window lol. oh then the heater core blew out on me in the middle of winter so i had to ride 16 miles to school snowing or not with all 4 windows down and i had a little heater/fan that i had on the dash to give me about a 1' diameter circle to see out. passenger wiper blade and arm were completely missing, oh and the seats werent made to recline at all either lol.

but............ u better believe i had a system in it lol

We changed the front brakes today and then found out the rears are also shot so we still aren't going to drive it till we change those. A little bit of brake fluid came out the top and we found out it was too full so guess what! The service engine light went off yay

Got he rear brakes changed so it has new rotors and pads all the way around and the pads are ceramic. Having the car lookedmat by a mechanic we know because there is a clicking sound when you turn right and we think it is the cv joint so if thats what it is and we get it replaced, this car is good as new.

the only problem i can see is around 170k the little plastic elbos that are in the belt tensioner assembly will break causing a coolant leak. like 4 dollar fix if you do it yourself. just make sure that the top and bottom of the assembly are both plastic.. i made that mistake. broke the assembly and it was 100 to replace it.

just an fyi for you. i ahve the 97 version. same car. but 4 doors and nice black halo headlights. worth while upgrade for 160.
