It looks like those tracks would not work at all in deep powder. The snow you are driving on seems to be either very icy or crusty, or am I mistaken?

You are, it is just a bit harden because it been 1C yesterday and now it fell back below 0C. However the truck still lack some square inches to run over fresh powder. One issue is that the torque needed to spin the tracks compress the rear suspension to the point that the rear end bulldoze the snow and it get stuck. Some purple springs might solve this.

Cool - An internet first, Summit on Trax. What do you estimate the top speed to be? Stock is around 22mph. Are the tracks faster or slower than stock? I think a wider track would have done a lot better in the snow, on several areas I noticed the power and speed of the track was wasted due to a small contact patch.

    Nice.

The top speed is around 7-8km/h (bit faster than walking pace) HI ot LOW gear no difference except in motor temp. The sprockets have 60% of the diameter of the stock tire.
The tracks are 3" wide, at 4" I'm sure they would have go anywhere. The tracks have places screws would fit, so I could fix carbon strips across them for a wider footprint at low weight.

right about the 55 second mark you can see where he goes up the snow bank and keeps the throttle stuck on, snow is flying as he's running back up the snow i bet it's soft or soft enough. I agree that even another inch wider would really increase contact area and maybe keep it on top of the soft stuff even a little easier. again simply amazing!!! I love it

Today had a fair amount of powder, I had stiffened the rear suspension and it helped a lot. I really gave the truck a beating, was a blast! However, I blew the slipper pads (crushed?) and the front central yoke broke as the slipper was jammed.
My replay XD10180 cam battery only lasted the first minute of the ride, too bad. I have some purple springs on order to keep the rear from dragging in the snow and a heavy duty slipper.

You can use a T-Maxx brake disk: $2.50. You might just like it.
BTW, whether it goes in deep powder or not, your machine is waaay far out.

They make it specifically FOR the revo/summit, lol....I didnt see this linked yet, but I'm guessing it's what Huge has on his? If it's in the thread but I may have missed it, half the price too.

I have the HPI baja tracks and glad I went with them. The climb angle on the summit/maxx tracks is too low and the track are too short for snow usage.

Finally, I repaired the truck, installed the new springs and went for a spin.
Now the rear stay level and don't drag in snow anymore. If I'm gentle with the throttle, I can carry on in the fluffy snow without getting stuck More vids coming!

How much did the whole setup cost ya? Do you think the summit would do goo with these tracks just on the back and skies up front?
