    ERBE-GT build continued.

Starting a new one since my last thread was half full of a truck i don't own anymore.

Gonna file this under "i don't already have enough body options"

I am also trying to decide if i want to run a rear wing. I have a spare TRX wing mount and wing so i may mess with that idea once i get this painted up.

It will be a nice addition to the other 2 shells.

And this is painted now, but its gonna be a surprise.

Couldn't wait. Had to cut this out tonight. Even while watching 2 hockey games.

Gonna try for the wing install tomorrow. Not sure if i want to go with the Revo wing or just try to source out a 1/8 TC wing that works.

That's how you get a short course body to do 80mph.

Yes im very impressed how the pf8-gt shell turned out considering its wheelbase was almost an inch short. The Corvette shell will put it to shame however. Although it will probably never be driven far or fast. Lol.

Kinda committed now and im not sure i like it. Have to see it over a painted shell. Might have to find a wider wing or just a different profile.

I have an illuzion wing here i might punch out to fit and see how that looks.

I think a bigger wing will pull it out. Maybe wing from baha would fit nicely?

So, for those of us out of the loop: What exactly is different from a stock ERBE to create this setup?

I ain't gonna lie, I NEVER thought I would care anything at all for on-roading again after having as versatile a truck as the ERBE, but THIS thread makes me LONG for some foamies in our 50,000 sq ft warehouse!!!!

Would you mind, when it is convenient for you, taking a few pics of your shocks relatively close-up, as well as a shot or 2 of the suspension setup without wheels installed?

Or, if there is another thread that I can find such info in, would you give me a couple of search terms so I can find it myself?

This looks like an amazingly cool idea. I hope it's as simple as you make it out to be.

Taco here are the shock pics. this is unsprung. i have a roll of gorilla tape under the car so you can see how long they are (not) compared to stock if you can compare vs your own, and with these springs it doesn't settle at all right now either, but i really only have 1/2 - 3/4" downward travel front and rear. i may put lighter springs on later if i notice and really bad handling issues.

As it sits tonight, just need to re-wire my MMM for this one.

The corvette build that inspired me was 'glbobo' part of the reason i had to have the corvette shell as well.

Decided with what i had here, and what i wanted to use elsewhere that this project gets a 2200kv MMM combo.

Gonna be a sick. Going to run Mod1 gearing too. just need to figure out the sweet spot once i get it running.

went to cover up the spur tonight and i noticed that the gear cover actually hits the spur gear. tore it down and re-installed the slipper assembly but it did not help it... its not much, but it seems to be further out to the rear of the truck than it should be.

It isn't hitting the motor or anything else so I'm willing to run without the cover, but i would feel better if it was there.

are your gears mod 1? if so do you have problem hitting your motor to the ESC once its mesh together? I have mod 1 spur from my revo 40t but I dont know what would be a good pinion to match with it without overheating my ESC/motor.

Yes its mod 1 and to be honest i havent mounted the esc yet so i dont know if i have an issue there yet, lol.

Teflon washers, are those a general hardware item or do i have to really look for them?

I've got contact scars on my cover... One thing is you're using the fiber clutch pads. Its lookin pretty new too.

As the pads wear, the spur will move forward. It may just take some bashing to get it where you want it.

Im revisiting my 17mm hex issue. if i run standard hexes the car is too wide. no not quite. if i run anything other then the traxxas 17mm splined hubs the car is too wide. but i prefer not to use the traxxas hubs to eliminate the wobble..

I have some Hpi hexes that work, but they create a new problem. the wheels can move in and out a couple mm on all corners. I think my best option is to keep them out and stop them from coming in but what is the best way to fill this gap without causing some sort of friction meltdown?

    in.

out. <-- this is the gap i want to fill.

I know one option is to run the Tekno carriers and 1/8 hubs but that's a bit overkill.

    What are my options?

I'm fairly positive that I saw Ducati777 post something about this. Pretty sure he used a few teflon washers to fill the gap between the hex and the bearing. If it wasn't him...I saw someone else do it!

a spring? some shims? i would search for a spring if there is such a small one. it will sit on the bearing well and eliminate the slop.

The truck is an Associated SC8 shell, the Corvette is a Kyosho GT2 stock body, and red and white one is a Protoform/Ofna PF8-GT

Got some shims today to fix the hex issue, i could have used 5 of the shims on each corner but used 4 to leave the slightest bit of play. (0.5mm) time will tell if i have issues as a result.

And boy oh boy did the car grab some attention at the LHS today. People were taking pictures and everything. lol
