Traxxas 1/16 “ Rally” Conversion

so i got tired of the gymkhana style driving with my rally and then i found this

so i started ordering parts for the conversion and then started looking for setups that were not for carpet

Front
Double tan springs
50 wt oil

Rear
Double black springs
50 wt oil

this is what most are running on their slash's and since they are the same chassis setup with different body's i thought i would start there...still looking for more input on what to run in the diffs and waiting for my rally tires to come back in stock

That's a good read. Thanks for the link... Smaller pinion's not a bad idea. The 1/16 cars are a blast off road. I have a similar bolt-on setup to take my tarmac Rally to (smooth-ish) dirt... Goes a little something like this:

De-limited (Slash-sourced) GTR shocks, 60wt shock fluid
Custom (~5lb maybe.. stiff) springs up front
TRX Black 2.22 lb springs rear
R2 "Performance" touring tires (not quite as knobbly as Tamiya Rally Blocks, but close)
HPI TE37 rims.

Jacking up the suspension requires some camber adjustments, too.

One thing that will very likely put an end to the fun before long are rocks getting up inside the center drive... There are small openings at the ends of the center drive 'skid' plate, and a huge opening on top of the chassis under the motor. It's a problem I've almost completely solved, check that out here: Saving your axles literally

so i went a lil nuts at tower last night

the hpi Pirelli tires were out of stock
4467 HPI Racing Pirelli T Rally Tire 26mm D Compound (2)

but in poking around i did find these for dirt
4470 HPI Racing Rally Tire M Compound (2)

and these for tarmac
50810 Tamiya Racing Semi-Slick Tire (2)

i am at the point that i think i may need some kind of rally anonymous

all parts in and on hope to get it over to paint today

I just finished a run with the HPI rally tires, same ones u got. They were great on loose gravel/ dirt, leaves. I also ran around a playground and they tore it up! i think they worked great.
