If you put the True Track kit in the front of your vehicle you will loose the ability to steer.

    It's a rear suspension kit.

It will all make more sense to you when you have the kit in front of you with the directions.

If you are ever confused, try google images and look at pics of how it mounts.

    Gear Wars

Well I think the 22T Pinion has won the war. It's the original pinion I tried with the DeWalt. I don't think I had the mesh right or something when I first tried it out because then the motor temp spiked up to 180°.

Today I ran an entire pack of my LiPo through it. I varied the terrain between pavement and grass. I didn't get to take it out to the park where I love to run it. I varied the speeds as well from slow to WOT.

It won't be the fastest Maxx on the block, but that fine. High speeds are not my thing, I want a long lasting, powerful motor. Maybe once the ESC give up the ghost I'll entertain gong brushless.

Here's the average temps I got today.

    22T 32pitch Pinion with 68T 32 pitch spur, 14.4 DeWalt motor and stock EVX-2 powered by ******* ********** 2S 40C-80C 5800mah LiPo's

    ESC - 150°
    Motor - 160°
Battery on the BEC side - 110°

This is also with the lid on and my debris guard installed.

Thats pretty impressive. My Titans run 150 with the dust guards (but the esc is around 100 geared 17/72)

My KD 700 ran hotter but the internal fan was gone, so that explains that. I just got another 700 and some nifty ideas for cooling (will hopefuly have my build thread done by the end of the week), with my new ideas installed.

Thermal protection won't shut down the ESC. It will stop responding to throttle controls and flash red. Once it cools down enough it will return to normal (at least mine did). This of course is my EVX-2 with no built in LVD. The newer version EVX-2 with LVD may operate differently.

No, never got any metal gears. I picked up two new 2075 servos from eBay for a really low price. I'm gonna run them until they burn up.

Well I was wanting to hold off until I get the tires I want. The body and tires, for me, kind of finishes this project. Although I don't really believe a RC project is every really finished.

Mashers are soft, black top and concert will wear them down fast but they are tuff. I like them but I'm going to try a medium compound because I'm not always running on packed dirt. I find myself on soft loose dirt, sand, concert, asphalt, hard packed tracks… Hey, it's a Monster Truck… I'll drive it anywhere I can.

I don't know much about the Trenchers other than I like the look, I hear everyone say they are great, they are just to big for my taste. Now it they made say a 3.2 version of the Trenchers I'd by them in a heart beat!

Big Joes are also to large for my taste. Mini - if you go with them watch your temps and be ready to adjust your gearing.

Ya. I also might look into Swamp Dawgs or Swamp Claws cause they're a little tougher and I have plenty of torque with my 700-HO geared 20/72

Swamp Dawgs are what I'm wanting. They're not to easy to find right now. I guess the Chinese New Year is still effecting production and shipping.

If you find anyone besides RC Planet that has them available Please let me know.

Ok so the IMEX Swamp Dawgs seem to be AWOL from the market. So, since I'm in the need for a set of tires (I ripped one of my Mashers trying to boil it off the wheel), I've decided to order 4 HPI Dirt Claws. They were the original tires I picked before I seem the PL Mashers or the IMEX Swamp Dawgs. LHS ordered them and they should be in tomorrow.

I have the body finished already, so when I get these tires on I can do an unveiling.

Then I can also work on some good video with the GoPro my sweet wife got me for our anniversary.

Now don't you all hold your breath, I know your excited but you have to be patient.

I guess I should clarify about the IMEX tires. I did find some through Amazon for around $26 per pair. Not a bad price but the vendor wanted $25 just for shipping!!! No way, not me.

    New tires mounted

I got my new HPI Dirt Claws taped and mounted. Still need to quasi balance them.

IMO, Im not a fan of the foam HPI uses for these tires. I'd rather have the closed foam, shaped inserts like Pro Line.

These are too bulky and would bunch up inside the tire.

So I took the scissors to them and rounded the edges off, them fit much better now.

I'm not ready to unveil her yet. I want to take her out this weekend and get some good photos and video. In the mean time, here's a teaser photo just for you minirevobasher…

I think you should of got some axial beadlocks, but that isn't my choice and it isn't my truck.

Yes because the true track kit uses hinges, not pivot balls.

Well, you still use a pivot ball on the top side of the kit, but it is hinged on the bottom.

Got the Dirt Claws balanced, went pretty quick. Maybe because they weren't that far out of whack to begin with.

I'm really looking forward to a long weekend bashing with these new tires. I hope they don't disappoint. They are a bit harder than the Mashers. But being that I run on all different surfaces they should do just right.
