    taped tires?

I see some people posting about taped tires and have a few questions. For one, what does that do for the car? Is it for drifting, handleing or speed? Should i do this for my car?(i usually bash) And finally, what kind of tape do you use?....... Duck Tape?

I did it and regret it. It caused the tires to unbalanced and if you plan to reuse the tires on other wheels, it leaves a sticky residue that is impossible to remove

I tape all of my tires with carpet tape. It's extremely sticky. Without it, the tires would balloon up and cause all kinds of handling/stability/steering issues.

It takes some practice to get them to be balanced afterwards. The tape has to start and stop at the same spot, the foams need to be even all the way around, and I wouldn't glue until you've checked balance.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

jimbo, what do you mean by cookie cutters?

Also when putting the tape in, you coat the whole inside of the tire even the sides?

i think what he means by "cookie cutters" is when the tires are blooning so badly that they could cut a cookie
People also refer to them as pizza cutters

    Just wrap the tread area.

I know this picture is small, but I believe this is what was meant by "cookie cutter":
