I really do not see any benefit.
The stock servo is not a power hog by any means...
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.
I think you would see a difference as you could get 6 volts to it vers 4.8 from the ESC. Plus the external BEC would offer more amps over the stock ESC. Not sure how man amps the stock servo could pull even at 6 volts. But I run them in my crawlers and I see how much they offer. Throw it in,, I say.

Where did you get the info that you only get 4.8v to the servos?

I was assuming but after checking the specs I am wrong. http://traxxas.com/products/parts/escs/vxl3m It does say 6.0volts but does not list amps. I actually have a watt meter for my airplanes. I'll see if I can plug it in and get a reading on what amps it pulls when operating the servo.

Couldn't hurt anything, chuck it in there and tell us how it works.
Thanks for clearing that up, MaxxPain.

Yes it will... especially a 16th sized servo.
My Summit has 5 servos... two of which are 400+ in/oz torque monsters. The stock receiver had no issue having the current traveling through it.
The real question is if the internal BEC of the ESC is up to the task.
