    All Wheel Steering?

I know many of you guys have seen these videos and I understand that the last one was from zrau17:

    http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...Almost-Done!!!

The first one appears to be really complicated, and the last one looks to be easier to duplicate. Has any one else done one of these or has their own version of four wheel steering. As some of you already know from my previous posts, I run my MERV/Summit indoors only, with my two year old boy, and I could really use the four wheel steering. Please post pictures, links or ideas on how to obtain four wheel steering.

    Thank You in advance

I did it on the full sized summit - You really do not need a seperate steering wheel just connect the new servo to the steering servo with a "Y" cable

Thanks noir522, a few months back I looked at many of those links but couldn't really see how to apply that to the 1/16 scale. You also PMed me the build-up link on the first video, too bad is all in French.

I am going to do the rear mount Mod on my 1/10 Summit, like in your picture, stretching the chassis is not for me.

By the way, did you ever get rid off your 1/16 Summit, never got an answer to my PM.

How much interest would there be if a aluminum chassis was made to duplicate the setup on the last video by zrau17. I'm currently talking with a small company that already has a direct replacement chassis for the plastic/composite chassis. They are interested in taking on the project but would like to know how many chassis are they looking to make. I'm really not looking to get involve with selling this chassis but would really like to make this happen.

I'll be the first to say that I'm not a big fan of aluminum parts, but aluminum seems to be the best option to fabricate the require setup to obtain all wheel steering. I realised that the weight will be more but with this setting we are not going after speed records it will be all about maneuverability.

Please fill free to comment or bring ideas to the table. Here is a quick drawing of what we are trying to come up with:

    Wraith; AX10; RX10

Those pictures are for the Summit in the first video. The guy has a thread on his build up but it is in French. It would be nice if someone who can read and write French was able to contact him and get information on his parts. He cuts the tips and uses aluminum extensions.

    I thought it looked familiar.
I downloaded those pictures ages ago when I was researching 4WS on a different project.
(yet to be revealed... or even started. lol)

Here is a CAD drawing of the first phase of the aluminum chassis. Due to the current low interest, the design is getting done during slow times. Please feel free to comment but remember this is only the beginning.

This would be awesome if it could be done for 1/10th's as well...
Stronger chassis and easy rear steer for the Summit and Revo.

Interest is more about price point vs benefit...

I don't see a market for the 1/10 since there are many different ways of doing the rear steering, my favorite one is capsule's approach using noir552 write-ups.

    A French Summit with 4WS

A dollar figure has not been set because only two prototypes have been made and some fine tuning of the CAD program has to be made, quality and function are the main goals. As soon as I get more pictures I will post them.

    Update on the chassis:

The lack of interest and cost has made us rethink the approach. Currently the cost would have been $85 including shipping.

Here is the first rough cut, it still has some tweaks that need to be made to the CNC code.

I agree, chassis are cheap but extremely time consuming to accomplish the correct mating without extending the wheel base.

I should be receiving one of the the first prototype chassis in the next few day to go over and build the first set up.

I just realised that I don't have any extra servos any more, what do you guys recommend, looking for a stronger one since crawling is what I'll be doing with it. I'll do a search but help me out with some leads.

******* 390... or the Blue bird 390. (same servo)
A cheaper yet seemingly decent servo popped up on the forum a few days ago, but I do not remember the brand or part number.

I would be very interested in the chassis, so do a post when it gets past the prototype stage

I did it too with the 2080 servo on the mini summit. It is very simple and easy to do.
