New 5000mah 40c batteries in erevo? How to fit

So I got some new lipo 2s 40c 5000mah lipos for my erevo. The battery itself fits good in the compartments minus the cables! Does anyone have any advice to get these to fit? I ran my ******* through the vents but those cables came out the side of lipo. The new lipos cables come out top instead making them not fit. Please help a guy out. Thanks

If the wires come out the top then why can't you run them out the air vents again, even if it means having to trim away a bit of the plastic to make a gap big enough, or are we missing some vital bit of info ( like a picture or info about the brand of lipos so we can see what we're dealing with exactly )?...

It's gens ace. As it looks to me I would have to do more than trim. It looks like I would have to take the whole vent off. And that has the tab to keep the battery door closed. Right?
Edit: I guess it wouldn't be considered top sorry. More like the front(where the sticker labeling is) I'm trying to find pics now.

So, it isn't just wires coming out the top of the battery, it is actually a hardcase pack with bullet connectors built-in; massive difference. I'm guessing you didn't see the 'which lipos actually fit' thread:

    http://traxxas.com/forums/showthread...t-actually-fit

Seems like making those packs fit will require you to remove the corner of the battery tray & a chunk of the door/ air vent, or remove the air vent completely.

I'd be more inclined to open up the hardcase, remove the bullets and solder leads directly onto the cells or onto the sides of the bullets so that the wires can be routed out the side or end of the pack ( with new holes ), then up & out the air vent like before.

If that doesn't sound appealing, then sending the packs back and buying some which fit better ( with hard-wired leads that exit the pack differently ) would be the only other option...

wowsers. Im sure ive looked through that thread a few times, but im a typical stoner.. Anyways i bought them used on a forum in a set of three for a really decent price; so decent i didnt even ask how it was wired. Im thinking they didnt fit very well in their car either. Oh well, im not a newb to soldering but I am a noob to lipos. Is there some special precautions i should take before venturing any further with the case mod? i know the basics of electricity and wiring but i never took apart a lipo before. Thanks again.

Duratrax makes right-angle power leads in 3.5mm/TRX female. I assume you require 4mm connectors. SOMEBODY has to make these and if someone does, shouldn't they work for you?
I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.

Thats a good idea. I'll check it out. There isnt much clearence inside my compartment above the battery though. It should allow me to change the direction of my cables to be able to route them through my vent with just a minor mod to the chassis. It would be a pain in the butt though cuz i would have to put the wires on after i get battery in every time. I think.

I can't get a picture but I was able to make those batteries fit . Army is right you have to modify the vents and the doors. My e-revo was used and the battery doors ends where removed making it easier. I'm waiting on a new set and i'll post some pictures when i get a chance.

Ok I have no problems modding my car to fit a battery. I personally feel more comfortable doing that then taking apart or modding a lipo. Im better with my dremmel than with soldering anyways. Lol.

I've seen a lot of chopped up battery trays on the erevo, that sounds like the safer bet really and wont weaken the chassis as such, just cosmetics. The traxxas designers/engineers should be flogged though, it's like they intentionally designed the truck to only work with a very limited range of pack sizes, why they couldn't have gone with open-top trays like the emaxx has I just don't know, wouldn't make any real odds to waterproofing or CoG etc...

I just bought the same batteries. Here's how I trimmed to fit.

I also trimmed the battery vents in case I want to put them back on.

I use the same batteries with right angle battery leads and they fit perfectly in the stock set up with no moding required. Happy with the batteries too...

The mod was very easy. Sharp pocket knife, shaved off the chassis and end of the battery doors. I just kept trimming back and test fitting until I got the clearance I wanted.

I kept the front vent, it is closed up front. I haven't been able to test it out yet. I just got done putting it back together after the bulkhead vs. Jeep Rubicon fiasco. I did the battery door mods while waiting on the bulkheads to arrive.

I got everything bolted back up last night, took it out in the dark for a test drive...only to discover that I put the diff back in upside down. I haven't had time to break it down again.

If I wind up needing to secure the back part of the door, I'll probably use zip ties.

Do'h upside down diff. Just seen somebody using a short bungee cord, drilled a small hole on the door tab to hook it to...

Because Traxxas doesen't like Velcro straps and the Emaxx straps and trays have there own limitations. I perfer the side loading ERBE compartments, just toss in some lipos and close the door.

The real problem are those bullet hard case lipos that anyone in a hurry can plug in backwards.

Looks like TQwire has right angle leads constructed with 13ga wire. If that's not big enough, they also sell lo-pro 4mm bullets in two lengths so you can make your own.
