What kind of header pipes, (manifold?), are those Snook? Not sure what the proper name is. (I'm looking for a header/manifold that will clear the rear shock tower on my tmaxx w a Picco .26 max motor/dynamite .053 pipe) Any suggestions? I'm using the stock 3.3 manifold right now. Just feel like I could get a little more performance with a bb header. LOL

When do we get a sneak peak at the body? Great work on the chassis/drivetrain, btw.

I also just got the news that the pipes were finished and ready to be shipped.
These pipes are the ERCM BB end bleed pipes with custom bent stingers to match the chassis layout and to route the exhaust out of the body. The stingers were intentionally made to be a little long so I can cut an angle on the ends to match the chassis profile. I will also be adding exhaust deflectors to angle up to give it a realistic drag car exhaust effect.

A big thanks goes out to Robin at ERCM, he put in a lot of time and effort with these so to get the angles and mounting locations just where I wanted them, and the pair being an exact mirror of each other for left/right mounting. Excellent customer service and an all around nice guy to talk shop withÖ

Not going to make the July 4th date for a trial run but good things come to those who wait (or at least that is what Iím told).
Man,you're good!I new you would be eventually going with the straight pipes. With the custum bends, they're awesome indeed.I can't wait for the vids.

Nope thats not what the box is made from,

    Little update:

Iíve spent the last week slowly/meticulously breaking-in the 2 engines. Even with the high ambient temps outside I still had to use a sock to partially cover the cooling heads to keep the temps up during the 1st couple of tanks. I would pre-heat to approx 200įF start them up and the temps would steadily drop without the sock.
After a few tanks and a little tuning of the hsn the temps would hold steady at around 200įF without the sock.
After the initial break-in I started with the engines mounted on a Tmaxx BB chassis and all was well until about Ĺ gallon when I started to tune for a little performance. Running 18/38 gearing I couldnít keep the front end down so I switched over to a different chassis to continue breaking them in thinking it would be a little easier to keep the front down. Wrong, I didnít take the time to mount a rear wing on the chassis and the 1st run I flipped it backwards/upside down without a lid when it hit 2nd gear. I did have HD zipties on the cooling head but it slid far enough that it wore/broke one and put a nice little gouge on a new engine head.
Iíve since mounted a rear wing and running with a lid as if I didnít know better in the 1st place.

The twin ERCM pipes came in today and with any luck I will have some video of the 1st test runs with both engines running by Thursday evening.
The pipes came out just as Robin and I had planned. I couldnít be happier with the fit and finish, Iím sure they will sound and perform as good as they look.

Iím headed out of town mid next week for a 3 week stint for work so I would like to get some run time soon to see what bugs need to be addressed before installing the 3 speed and clocking some speed runs.

Couple of pics with the pipes mounted up.

If your talking about the lack of pressure nipples in the pipes, I had them left out purposely so I could install then exactly where I wanted once I mounted the pipes.

Nope, not a lipo hard case. You guys will never guess what its made from.

    Teaser video:
Getting a little heat in the engines and testing the throttle linkage sync. I have a few adjustments to make before its ready for a test run, but it does really good burnouts in the driveway if you want it too.
Turn up the volume; itís probably not as loud as in person. Iím gonna have to find somewhere else for testing as it is very loud in my cul-de-sac.

Thanks for all the encouragement and kind words guys.
Thursday came a day early I couldnít resist making a few adjustments and taking it out for a test run.
Itís locked in 1st gear only atm and the throttle is limited to about ĺ open.
Both engines are already warmed up close to running temps when the video starts and the tanks were topped off with fuel. A little more than 5 minutes run time as it is with the little tanks so thatís perfect for just speed runs. But throttle is limited and Iím running the smallest venturiís in the carbs for now so it will burn more fuel when opened up.
Itís also still tuned on the rich side.
I still have a little issue with the throttles retuning to the idle gap completely as you can hear, and see in the video when I push it back it idles perfectly. I know what needs to be done to correct the issue but I have to disassemble the entire linkage to make it work correctly. I just couldnít resist running it with that little hiccup. Not too bad for the 1st run though. It handles better than I thought it would, tuning radius is great and the brakes worked very well. I was concerned about locking up the rear wheels but at slower speeds it worked great. Weíll see what happens when I unlock 2nd gear and build up more speed.
Its gonna be a hand full when tuned and opened up fully

Itís a 5 minute unedited video just putting it through the paces to see what may crop up.
    Stay tunedÖ

he has a custom built 3 speed tranny that he's is going to be running in it. So it will be awesome to hear it go through all 3 gears.
