    http://traxxas.com/ or http://traxxas.com/products/models/e...slash116vxl4x4
am i the only one who is getting really annoyed by their lack of inovation? well at least they havent given this "new release" a new model # like they did to the last "new release"

so its the same slash but with a different body?
i wish they'd come out with stronger parts for these models rather than different coloured bodies

Since they have an apparent lack of innovation, why don't you design your own platform and present it here for us to judge. I guess the Revo wasn't innovative. Neither was the Slash, Slash 4x4 or the 1/16 series. Same old same old.

I get kind of frustrated with this idea. Yes Traxxas has redone the 1/16th scale platform many times. However they have released more new things than any other RC company I can think of. Seems to me like everyone else is always following Traxxas's lead and releasing vehicles to compete with Traxxas rather than showing any inovation of their own.

Traxxas needs a 1/8 buggy, and a 1/10 drifter. Maybe use the slash 4x4 platform like all the 1/16 do.

A 1/8 buggy would be nice. The 1/16's use the E-Revo platform though, not the Slash 4x4.

Yea the new release is a bit dissapointing, a simple color change. Its almost like claiming that a red e-revo is also a newer edition. But they buggy idea is not bad. I would suggest Traxxas do it in "reverse" by checking the market demand first by selling a 1/16 (converted) Traxxas buggy. Then if it sells they can release a 1/10 sized buggy version (note Traxxas does not sell 1/8 sized anything).

A perfect example of this is the HPI Savage XS Flux and Losi Mini 8IGHT. The mini stuff sells and others are noticing.

i think it did get the 2.4 link radio system. the different as well but thats about it. i like the 1/16 things because who can afford to spend over 500+ on a 1/8+ and a new complete design. not many out there.

Good catch and point. It seems that this is not intended as a new model, just an upgrade to the 7008 model (which is no longer listed.)

Others: please stop getting you tightie-whities in a wad over the alleged lack of innovation. Traxxas has an awful lot of models to choose from. Does ANY company give you EVERYTHING you want? Stick around - Traxxas may!
I know they're having their break there by your brake drums. No, you're not invited.

Im with dad and KSB... traxxas updates a model and people get mad because they didnt release an all new platform. You can buy an RTR, 2.4, lipo ready brushless 1/16 vehicle that can take a sever beating and can go 50mph without alot of work for less than $300... theres a reason we get to buy the vehicles from traxxas for the price we pay. There's also a very good reason NOT to build new platforms every 6 months when the ones we currently have are so versatile. There are so many examples in the 1:1 world of innovation simply for the sake of innovation that was a step backwards from the product it replaced... id hate to see that happen with traxxas.

I look at other brands releasing models that eerily resemble traxxas products in capability and size and i wonder why innovation is so important if its traxxas thats being copied.

actually, when did traxxas start doing limited lifetime warranties for electronics? has this always been the case or is it something recent?

if traxxas were to ever modify the platform, the only thing i'd ask for is the ability to stick in a full size servo, rather than use mini ones/dual mini servos. it's a small gripe, but... well, i was really trying hard to find somethng to change.

i have nothing to complain about. If you do not support traxxas's new 1/16 models, then just plain dont buy them... simple as that. i mean, sure, it would be nice if they came out with something completely beefed up with aftermarket parts, but, wheres the fun in that? lol i just wish that traxxas would come out with a scale model. I think they could make one MEAN scaler! dont get me wrong, i love the revo's and everything, but i just like the looks of the scale models, now if you took traxxas parts and experience and put them into that sick realistic look of a full scale rc. AWESOME!

I meant they could base a rally gt conversion, a slash MT, a SC truck, and a 1/8 buggy all from the slash 4x4 chassis, just like the mini e-revo chassis is the base for 4 completely different trucks (summit, mini sc, rally, revo). I think that would be the most cost effective thing to do.

Traxxas is great! Trust me, I'm the biggest fan outside the US, but... They are missing 3 important vehicles in my opinion: a true on-road car (like the electric 4-TEC), a 1/8 buggy and a 1/5 buggy or short course (like you know who)... I think if they release that, everybody will be happy... Just my 2 cents...

I'm all for using crossover parts to make things cheaper and have more availability. The only thing about the releases os how Traxxas presents it to the people. Right on the website it says "NEW!" slash but really it's not new. I think if they would advertise as updated or revamped, etc. would be much less misleading. Just my opinion

They've not even come up with original bodies, just copied ones from the 1:10 slash...

Saying that, I wish I had waited and bought the updated mini slash.

Is all they've done new bodies and 2.4ghz then?

They have pretty much laid out the 1/16 slash like the 1/16 revo. If you get brushed you get an AM radio, if you get brushless you get a 2.4 radio.
Then they also added the bodies like on the 1/10 scale slash for more scale appeal.

The whole thing is just an update to make everything less confusing and newer and better (a little)

They should venture into helicoptors. There are so many cheap, crappy ones out there. I bet they could engineer a sweet, quality chopper good for beginers. And planes too for that matter. I bet, given enough years, they will have everything.
