ERBE: Tough as nails

I just wanted to balance some of the info people must get from the web as far at this kits durability. I run 6s hyperion G3 VX 5000 mah batteries and have found the truck to be exceedingly durable on 6s. The only weak point is the rear driveshafts. The stockers are passable, but you need some spares on hand. The summit shafts add toughness in the rear. I have beaten the snot out of my truck the last three bash sessions and I had one rear a arm break the cross support piece. I am still running without changing the a arm no problems. I have broken a front and rear bulkhead (slammed a metal hockey goal), rear I had to replace, but the front is still truckin even though it is cracked. I have blown one diff (a rear) due to a bearing failing. I have broken one rear skid. That is my laundry list after 8 months of bashing.

As it has been said many times, you need to have trigger control. No setup will withstand irresponsible MMM usage over time. So 8 months on 6s and this beast has taken so many shots and keeps rolling. So I just wanted to put out some positive feedback to this great truck. I love that I can make so many adjustments and have truck that performs great in any conditions. Very versatile. I am getting in as many runs as I c an before the winter. Then it is breakdown, clean, replace bearings, and rebuild. Fun, fun, fun!

Also, I don't attempt standing backflips. But I take on any obstacle, jump, root, rock. I do not baby it in any way except no standing backflips.

Also, all stock except extended wheelbase arms and offset wheels with badlands. I didn't want wheelies. I wanted the power to the ground.

I have been lucky with my diffs i think, the backflip novelty wore off quick but about 100 runs into the truck I am still on stock diffs. Numerous shafts and now cvd's, rpm arms all round and apart from thd odd spur and toe link it's really solid. Great truck.
Signature removed due to excess awesomeness.

I'm pleased with the performance of my ERBE as well. Granted I run on 4s only but the truck IMO is very fast on 4s. Knock on wood have not broken a thing yet.

I've run 6S exclusively in my ERBE for the the last couple years and rarely ever break anything that wasn't caused by a crash. Shafts hold up fine, sure after a while they start to stretch out/twist a bit and in time they will break but I don't consider that premature at all. That said, most of the time I'm running my ERBE is when I'm racing on the street with a friend of mine which we take seriously enough to want to beat each other so my slipper as well as trigger finger is tuned to allow for the best possible launch and full throttle comes at a point where we can still maintain steering control vs uncontrolled wheelies and backflips which is what a lot of people do on 6S.

Exactly. Throttle control is not only better for the truck, but produces better performance. It is really win win.

The BL Revo does needs a few upgrades, BUT this truck can do almost anything. racer, basher, etc... etc...
Would you go flip my truck back over??

try this to your revo everyone, and tell me the $$$ after...

with a simple brace mod. dont want to ruin the revo thingy, the revo handles perfectly and there is no second to that, but its not durable imo on 6s.

This video breaks at least 2 of the video posting guidelines. Please review them.

Love my erbe, but its not suited for 6s. Its not.

Did the drive shafts bend at all? I run rpm arms on mine and while they are very durable, they do tend to flex quite a bit, thus making my cvd's spaghetti like. The summit shafts are the better option imo, but i can't imagine my erbe taking that abuse, amazing yet rather hard to see.

Love my ERBE, lots of upgrades, but diffs and tires don't last. I am not abusive, slipper is loose and good throttle control, but there is always something. But, overall it is a great truck.

I'm with you conrad, but the "there's always something" holds me back. I've been there too many times. I'm going to wait to see if there is anything new on the horizon to beef it up. If not, sadly, and I really don't want to be....done.

Tires, especially stock ones on 6S certainly don't last. I have no had issues with my shafts or diffs though and like I said earlier, I run 6S exclusively.

I have had and heard of the cross-support breaking frequently on the rear arms. I came up with a solution to the issue. When mine broke (it looks like a clean break at the seam right in the middle) I used a small drill bit and drilled a 1/2 inch hole in the center of both sides of the broken brace. I then filled the two holes with glue and slid a 3/4 inch piece of straight metal I cut off the long end of a body clip into the holes. I pressed the two halves back together and have not had an issue since. Scratching or sanding the piece of body clip helps the glue to hold onto it. It works and is cheaper than buying new arms.

Yeh, and the price of everything just stinks. My parents always told it was a money pit and that I would need more $$ later. Sure enough Three motorcycles, two street legal and one older than I am, and then an old truck insurance, maintenance, and gas money adds extremely fast. especially when my main source of income (the grass) dies of a drought and I can't find a job. What gives, I need the money, but I love the ERBE, so Money or ERBE. I think money might win if of course I can sell it.
