    Headphones

Hey guys,I've been wanting some new headphones for a while now, because my wireless ones aren't compatible with my ipod. I really don't want to spend more that $150, I prefer it be $100 or less, and I'll be using it for my computer, ipod, and really whenever I listen to something.

Right now, I plan on the Bose AE2, possibly used. (link).

Anybody have a better recommendation or should I go ahead and get those?

    Thanks everybody,
    Nigel

I found the difference between a $100 and $200 set of headphones is pretty small unless your looking for noise cancelling. I went with a set of $200 sony noise cancelling headphones the last time I bought a set and theyre great. But, I also have a set of Phillips/oneill non noise cancelling headphones I got for $99 and theyre also great. I fly alot so the noise cancelling units are way better for my needs but the other ones are great as well.

I have not seen anything bad or overpriced by Sony yet. I think no mattery what you buy from them whether it be a cheap pair of earbuds or a PS3 it will be good.

do you own/have tried bose to compare them?

I tried some bose headphones at the store and they felt and sounded very impressive. I would really enjoy something nice because I have sennheiser wireless ones and they sound ok and "work great" also but I want something that would be a bit of an upgrade

    thanks for the input everybody!

I've found there is usually a 'sweet spot' in most product markets. In headphones, it's right around $125-$150 - you get notably better performance over less expensive models, and the extra bang you get for spending more is not worthwhile at the margin. To that end, in my experience, the Audio Technica ATH-AD700s are great open cans. They're great when you're stationary, but aren't ideal on the move. I used to have Sony's MDR-V700DJs, but the open soundstage is worth the less punchy low end.

I have some $90 Sony earbuds for on-the-go listening, and they perform very well for me. My dad travels a lot and finds noise cancelling to be beneficial so he can sleep on the plane, but I've never been preferential to it.

Another vote for Sony here. I have a Sony MDR-V700 DJ style head phones and absolutely love them. I have had them for about 5 years now and still use them at least 5 days a week during the school semesters. They fold up to make carrying them a little easier but the most important thing is that they sound great. With music at moderate volume you wont hear anything significant around you and with music at full volume you may never hear again after a lot of use. But the bass is deep and overall sound quality is excellent.
They can also be had now for about $90 which is a good amount less than I paid for them back in the day.

This is kinda like a thread were people fight over what car brand is superior
IMO, Bose and Sony are both very good, so it's really just how much you want to
spend. I use noise canceling earbuds from Dolby and they have great sound quality too.

I use the SkullCandy ink'd earbuds & I really like them, great bass & sound. But then again I have never used any earphones that are more than $50.

I got a Sony MDR-G57 and they sound amazing! They are cheap, and they sound better than any Apple earbud or actual headphones!

Look into WICKED headphones and H2O Audio. Both have great looking stuff. I don't own anything from either company, but from the specs they seem very nice. H2O Audio has waterproof earbuds, and cases for your iPod! They say they're waterproof up to 12 ft., so you could swim in the pool while listening to you favorite songs!

My cousin is a DJ in the UK and he swears by his Beats by Dre. He has 3 pairs. Not because they breakdown but just for different purposes. I on the other hand cant even afford 1 pair. Im having a hard time myself with headphones. I need something affordable and with lots of bass, ill be using if for practice bass guitar of course.
