Hi all,
New to the forum.
I am waiting on delivery of my new Slayer Pro. I have been out of the RC game for over 15 years and this will be my first nitro truck.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Read the manual--know it. Watch the DVD. This truck is pretty similar to the Revo so a lot of what goes on in that forum can be applied here. Plus there's more activity there.
Welcome!

I would get traxxas top fuel 20% but don't buy a gallon unless your going to drive it a lot!! get a temp Gage your going to need to keep an eye on the temperature of the motor, after run stuff I would use after run oil, a lot of people us Wd 40 but I don't like that because it has water in it, other then that just go out and have fun with your new RC truck.
I've heard Powermaster fuel is a very good product as well.....
Awesome truck!! Good buy. I have had mine for about 2 months now and have no problems. Only upgrade i did so far was the 17mm hub adapters and buggy wheels with badland tires.

If you use any other fuel other then traxxas top fuel, it voids the warranty on the motor, just thought you like to know that.
Where does it say that in the manual?Unless it is provided by the owner, how is Traxxas able to determine what type of fuel went through the engine even when the owner has flushed ARO or WD-40 through it?

Welcome to the forum! You are going to love your Pro! Like Double G said, follow the DVD and manual and you will be fine. Stock up on glow plugs and spur gears! The Pro is my 2nd favorite of my fleet. Revo is #1. You are going to enjoy it!
Double G....Just guessing but is it Virginia Highland FD?

If you can't beat it....destroy it!
tower hobbies has the adapters river. I also found several others just google it. Ive also read that the losi ten t wheels bolt on directly and provide more traction. I have a set on the way i'll keep ya posted on performance of those.
i put in a dual steering system coz the the single servo stripped its gears, your gonna love it
You don't really need two steering servos if the stock one dies just get a hi-tech mg servo they work great!!.
i went with the duel servo also. i took one out to use for my sons truck and now i find that it turns better. id just go with one good servo and have your stock one as back up..
i tried a different servo but i found it wasnt as durable as two servos
Nothing better than the look of a brand new truck...
Only the first roll over hurts..After that its all good
The first top speed roll into the woodline hurts![]()
As does that first roll-over on pavement during the first high speed runs..... scraaaaaaaaatttttttccccccchhhhhhhhhGggggggrrrrrrii iiiiiinnnnnnnnndddddddd Crunch!!x2
2 TMaxx 3.3/TMaxx 2.5R/Slayer Pro 3.3
thats one good looking truck. may i suggest the sway bar kit
it realy helps for roll overs
i got a slayer and its awesome great for the cost of it
Just ordered one from tower yesterday. I have a tmaxx 3.3 and love that one but had to try something different.
yea watching it slide away on its roof that first high speed roll is always rough. but get easier over time. lol. but sway bars and springs and oil def helps.
What springs and oil should I order? I order all online due to I don't have a lhs. Thank s.
start with some 50w oil and just stock springs. maybe get yourself a sway bar to help.
there's no life like a LOW LIFE!
Drag It!
I would get some O'Donnell speed blind fuel 20% and some McCoy mc-59 glow plugs.
nah...... traxxas 33% nitro with O.S. LC3 glow plugs.
mine runs like a............ um........... fast date, there we go
there's no life like a LOW LIFE!
Drag It!
Just got it and im breaking the engine tonight. I only have top fuel 20%.
Got a new set of Pro Line Epic BeadLoc Wheels and Switch tires. Getting ready to install a Swaybar set and new Airtronics MT4 radio. Have a center Diff and Rear Break Kit on the way as well. Really like the look of the new wheels and tires.

Wow, it's like I'm looking at my own Slayer, LOL. Nice wheel and rims choice! I like the chrome beadlock!![]()
Hippies. At least they save gas for real car nuts.
Finally got the sway bar kit installed. Also upgraded to the red toe links and rods (more for looks then anything). And installed the new Airtroinincs MT4 radio. Test drives went great, 100% improvement with the swaybars. Also worked on fine tuning the set up (camber, Caster, toe in/out) and noticed a big difference there as well.
Got about a gallon through the truck now and the motor is running about perfect. Great acceleration with no lag after idleing for a bit.
Now that I have a good base line with last set of mods, I am ready to instally the center diff and rear brake set.
Couldn't be happier with this truck.
Bill
Glad your happy! I'm really supprised more people don't get Slayers, ther're GREAT!!![]()

Rear sway bars.
I installed the center diff and rear brake kit.
Rear Brake Disks by riverbluff4, on Flickr
Here is the rear brake disks.
Brake Linkage Front and Rear by riverbluff4, on Flickr
And the rear brake linkage. One thing I had to do was off set the servo horn one tooth from center. The problem was that at full throttle it was pulling far enough on the rear brake to cause it to drag. Off setting the horn by one tooth eliminated that. May be worth adding that to the instructions for the brake kit.
I haven't been able to drive it yet with the center diff and rear brake as the weather here in Germany is a bit wet and snowy this time of year, so I still will need to adjust the brake bais.
The only other mod I have done to the truck is install the Airtronics MT4 radio and upgrade the servos. I have the temp telematry set up, but not the RPM.
Bash away!
