Need to find either a replacement servo, or steel gears parts number, had broken gears replaced them, and LITERALLY 20 minutes into a run the gear teeth started to chip again.

I dont believe there are any metal gear replacements for the stock servo.
Common upgrade is a Hitec HS85MG servo, the MG stands for metal gears![]()

And it fits perfectly in the alot? No trimming? How about programming? Just plug and play?
I use the ******* 390.
98% direct drop in...
A little trimming on the servo mounting tabs and a servo reversing procedure on the Tx and you are all set.
All hardware is 100% compatible.
Here is a link to a servo comparison for all the servo's that I know of that fit this chassis.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.
Any idea which if any of those are waterproof?
none of those are waterproof but nothing that plastic dip can't fix. I have a hitec 82mg (waterproofed), also my sidewinder is too, and the metal gears from the hitec fit the traxxas 2080.

Oh well that's convenient, how exactly would I do a "plastic dip" and which is better? Leaving the gears in the hitec or putting them in the 2080?
WhIch would be better, the analog or the digital hitec upgrade?
Ooking at then it's a 5$ difference foe digital, probs pick it up next paycheck since obv traxxas one is junk.
Wi the digital version fit from that list?

I took it as he was talking about his current broken Traxxas servo.

Decided to go with the ******* 390, for the money it looks to be the best in speed etc, hopefully I can figure out how to "reverse or flip" It so everything goes in the right direction
does the ******* 390 servo requires reverse steering?
Yea it requires reverse steering. It's very easy to reverse steering. Just look in the manual or go to support on Traxxas website and it tells you manually how to do it.

are all the stock parts 100% compatible.
im happy with my hitec HS85MG. it does seem to not quite center but a little turn fixes that. it drops right in, the wire is in the way so u have to take the top plate off but thats easy.
Let us know if you can find a 390 been on backorder for a while now
YEa, i also have heard that the cable on the ******* 390 is pretty short, do you have to modify the receiver box to let the cable reach or can you wire the cable like the stock servo?
look at cobra's car his cable looks pretty long
modify a longer cable is not that hard as long as you can solder
Xtreme has no limiits
I just installed the ******* 390, the cable is plenty long enough.
mindy, where did you buy your ******* 390?
that would be a score on ebay!
and i just scored on cobra's 390 for a spare!
Picked it up on ebay as soon as it went up for sale!
