Max. Run Times On 3s lipo's

    Hey Guys,

I am really frustrated right now because my mini e revo runs for only 6 minutes and the temp goes around 140 F, and I stop running it to prevent the esc from burning out. I have created this thread to just find out, how many people out there run there 1/16 e revo on 3s lipo's and how much run time do u get under safe temps of the esc and the motor. WOuld really appreciate if u can also post the set up your are running on the e revo ( tires, pinion, spur). Pictures would be gr8 too.

I got less than 15min on 3s, no heat issues since I run 1/10 combo, geared 28/55 with dirthawgs tires, doing speed runs only.

amazingly on stocks i got over 45 minutes on series 3s's, running a 23/55, with stock tires and rims as well, but it also ended up stripping my diffs, NEVER BY VENOM LIPOS.

    NEVER BY VENOM LIPOS.[/QUOTE]

after researching all night I came up with the fact that these 1/16 are designed for only couple speed runs on 3s and would get to temps around 150 to 160 F. its no the venom lipo's that's doing it. I have other venom lipo's too for my 1/10 stampede vxl and 1/5 scale custom built e maxx and the venom lipo's work just perferct on them. I was jst expecting a lot out of this 1/16 brushless system.

bigdaddy what gearing are you using with 3s lipo? Did you put the speed pinion in? I use 17t pinion with my 3s lipo and it usually gets hot in 15-20 mins if I'm bashing hard. Faster if I do speed runs

if your using the stock pinion with 3s lipo your asking for heat problems.

    Hey aikin,

I use 16 pinion and 50 spur on e revo. I run my e revo for like 6 to 10 minutes (speed runs) on 3 s lipo, bcoz in 6 to 10 minutes i get temps like 140 F, and I do not go above that temp. to keep my electronics in perfect condition. I run proline dirt hawgs tires with proline bed lock rims.

BTW how hot do u run ur electronics. I am actually working on installing a huge cooling fan as big as the chassy to get more run time with temps under 140 F . As soon as I will be done with it, i will posts up pics and video.
    Thanks

16 pinion, 50 spur, proline dirt hawgs tires on bedlock rims, outside temps. are somewhere between 80 to 93 F. I usually run it in a huge parking lot.

Never drain a battery pack (either Ni-MH or Li-Po/Fe) so that the truck barely moves. It damages the battery, especially Lithium ones, that's why manufacturers put in LVC's in their ESCs.
