Advancing the timing on the MMM

Has anybody advanced the timing all the way up on there motors with the MMM esc ? I mean it say it will gain some power but make the motor run hotter.

Reason I am asking is because I am running a 1717 motor and she is running ice cold I mean barely over a 100 degrees and I just got the castle link and was thinking about advancing the timing.

Honestly she is running fine but I wanna see if I can notice a difference with timing advanced.

However, its not worth me messing up the motor even the slightest bit. If advancing the timing even causes the slightest damage over a period of time then I won't do it.

If there is no harm and all it does is make the motor run hotter than I will do it. Because my motor is running cold anyways a few degrees to play with.

Castle would have said.... "will decerease motor life", or something along those lines if it was going to hurt the motor. From what i read, it marginally increases acceleration and produces more heat. Just try it with the body off for cooling issues and monitor temps closely.

The castle motors run best on 10 degrees of timing. Just up your gearing a bit.

I decided to go opposite and pull all the timing out of the motor. I got to thinking late last night that actually my lipos are not doing good with the setup. They are getting hot and I have to monitor the temp on them.

Then it clicked to me that advancing the timing is gonna draw more amps which in turn is gonna hurt the lipos even more.

So instead the timing is set to 0 and she is running perfect now. The batteries ran cooler and longer. Truck still had all the same power and I couldn't even tell any speed difference.

I am geared rather High I would say!!!

    20/40 Mod.1. LoL....

What batteries are you using? What gearing are you using? I am interested in hearing how you like that motor.

Right now I am running some dynamite 2s 5300mah batteries. Geared at 20/40 mod1. 3s batteries are in the mail.
