    rusler 2.5

just did a trade a while back think im going to tear apart the engine for a good cleanning. do i have to worry the gaskets on replacing the kid claimed that it does run but it is filthly dirty. and i just think it would be better to really give it a good cleanning and inspection before i try to start it? does seem to still have good compression still. and also do the carborator's on these also fit on a 3.3? gave me a ton of spare parts most new and now have a few of these? thanks for any help.

You mean worry about tearing a gasket or something when you take it apart?
If thats it no not really, all of the nitro engines gaskets that I know of are O-rings.
You can just put a touch of oil on them and re-instal them.
Yes, I'm pretty sure the 3.3 uses the same carb.

If it were me, I'd tear the engine apart, clean it up and replace the o-rings (two at carb throat, one at exhaust header and one at backplate). The gasket between the head and block should be okay. Clean it out very well, replace the o-rings--you could even replace all the o-rings in the carb using the rebuild kit. The 2.5 and the 3.3 use the same carb.
This way you know where you are at with the engine--it is clean and gives a good starting point for you.
