    Boss 302 build

Hi guys I have always liked the bosses, but could never dish out 300 for the vxl. I see some on various websites for ~260(about 275 shipped o_O). So I figured I would see if it would be smarter to build one myself.

Right now I see myself buying:

    Kyle Busch vxl roller- 105
    Cheap eBay touring tires- 20
    2080 servo- 20
    Radio and reviever- 30
    SPC 2500 2s - 20
    Vxl 380 motor- 35

I want this to be as cheap as possible, and I won't be running a body for the first few weeks. Any suggestions for a better esc than the vxl 3m? That is all that I have left to decide on. To say it now, I am not gonna spend 70+ on a esc. Thanks

I would skip the 2080 in favor of any of the 3 popular servos. The corona is cheapest at around $10, and the Blue Bird and HiTec's are about the same price as the stock 2080; but they fail less often than the stock servo.

As far as the ESC goes, I ran a ~$35 shipped cheap 60 amp ESC on 2S without a single issue.
Whatever it is I just said... I could be wrong.

Thanks I hear the bluebird is the easiest drop in, is that true?

And are you talking about the hobbywing 60a?

I used a BB... I found it quite easy to drop in; maybe a 10 minute install.

It was not a hobby wing... although I have heard a lot more good about HW than bad.

Ever think about this servo? Same length and height of the 2080, just .05" thinner. Does it look like it will bolt up?

    Alright, updated list:

    Kyle Busch VXL roller:

    380 motor:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tchlink:top:en

    EzRun 60a:

    ******* 390DMH(same as bluebird):
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coreless-Met...item4abe28db40
I'm gonna offer him $25, because that is how much they are on another website

    Wheels:
    2x http://www.hobbypartz.com/mad-wa1032.html

    FlySky GT3B:
    http://www.hobbypartz.com/79p-gt3b-carradio-lcd.html

    SPC 2s 2500:
    http://spcracing.com/index.php?productID=107

Grand total - $280 for a 1/16 platform with a better esc, better servo, grippy tires, 2s lipo, and a nice 2.4ghz radio. I think that is good considering I would have added on to the $260 stock car with the better servo, tires, battery, and esc anyways. So that adds up to a savings of $80 .

Sounds like a good build you have going. Im addicted to the 1/16 scale cars right now. I have 5 total and a bunch of spare parts(two are my sons)....And i can't stop upgrading them either.

So I'm trying to think of a cool paint scheme for the body... I want the main color to be white so that *hopefully* blue or red underglow lights will make the body glow a little too. The red highlights are there for day running, I love red black and white together. This will be my first paint job...

I'm leaning towards the middle because this is gonna be my first body. And I also found this which is interesting - http://www.goodluckbuy.com/gws-micro...kg-torque.html

    Specification:
    - 4.8V 5.4kg/cm 0.17S/60 degree
    - 6.0V 6.4kg/cm 0.14s/60 degree
    - weight: 28g
    - Size:L28*W14*H29.8mm

Slow, but way more torque. And about the same dimensions. Metal gears, 2 ball bearings.
