The summit is not designed for going fast, it is a crawler & trail-truck, designed for climbing up & over things; if you want a fast truck, by an erevo.

You could go for the 14.4v dewalt motor upgrade, but you wont get much more speed really- read around, there are lots of threads of the 'how make summit go faster' nature

Dewalt drill motor, 5s Lipo with LVA or LVC, gear up.

Sounds like a recipe to overheat an esc to me.

Yes, but it will go faster. :-). You just have to take a break every few minutes to let it cool down. Or you could just install the motor and leave everything else stock and be just fine with much more torque.

I've tried what I suggested, but with the RX8 ESC, so the motor would burn up and the ESC would be fine. Believe me, I burned out a brand new Titan 775 on the first run.

Another option would be to just go with 5s Lipos or 7 cell + 8 Cell NIMH batteries. It will give you a little more speed at the expense of the lifetime of the motor.

775, change the tyer/wheels. gearing to 18/65 should stock e-revo speed.

And besides, it just LOOKS slow. Like a 747, it's so big it looks like it's crawling through the sky...

run lipo 2x 2s change gears to 14/58 , run light tire and rim combination. set the suspension low , with soft springs (yellow stripe but all 4) and kill the slashes

all brush , brushless is a another story.

if that is the case just run them over.
