    sv2 esc upgrade?

I have had really bad luck with the stock vxl esc and am currently having a new one replaced as we speak. I heard of people putting the sidewinder escs in there merv to get more power. I am wondering what the amp peak and current are on this esc and if this is a real upgrade. If so, what will I have to do to make it work with my merv? Also I am also looking for motors, what is a good motor with this esc. I don't know if a losi flux motor or a ezrun motor. Thanks.

Changing the ESC does not change your power output

Amp draw is determined by your motor, batteries and gearing

Castle does not list amp ratings for their ESC's

Most common upgrade for these cars involves the following

Big block motor mount, Traxxas parts or Tenbol
Castle Sidewinder / Mamba Max Pro
    Castle 4600 / 5700 motors

Many just upgrade the ESC and keep the stock motor

Larger ESC will run cooler and usually has a heap more tuning options

    Cheers

the sv2 is a good upgrade, it is programmable, and it runs cooler than stock, you can keep the stock motor and only need the 4mm connectors for the motor, or get the sv2-5700kv motor from castle, it is a 1-10 motor so you will need a tenbol motor mount or the traxxas motor mount for brushed motor, IMO this is a much better option.

I've ran an SV2 the past couple months and been very pleased with the results. It's a smooth ESC, is highly programmable, and will tolerate higher gearing w/o thermalling or excessive cogging. Keep in mind it IS NOT waterproof. If that's not an issue, I can't think of a better choice.

What's an SV2? Where's the cheapest place to get it? Why is it better than a 60a ezrun? Where do you mount it?

If keeping the stock motor, do you change the small bullets on the motor or large ones on the esc?

sv2 is a castle sidewinder esc, you will need to solder you own batt connector and 4mm bullets connector for the motor, this is how I mounted mine.

A SV2 is a Sidewinder version 2, short for SV2. You can find them in many places, like on Castle Creation's website, on eBay, and other hobby retailers (I would post a link, but I have to remember that new rule). You can mount in on the side of the truck, sideways, upright, in the battery compartment, or even on the back shocks. It doesn't matter which bullet connectors you change, there are also adapters that you can buy or that type of thing.

Castle Creations (abbrv. as CC) is known for their high-quality products that can withstand the abuse and bashing of anybody while still staying generally cool. CC has gotten a reputation for their great products and tune-ability of them, also. With the USB kit, you can change tons of different features of the ESC to fit your needs.

i dont race this truck, i only run on a open dirt field with low grass and my street i live on. i would consider it more bashing. i need to know if the motor is needed to be changed too. the stock motor gets very hot as well,

i think the sct combo is better with the 3800kv motor. that thing puts the velineon to shame imo.
