    caster block?

The Slash has been amazingly durable for my son, leave it to dad to break it!

I know there is some debate about aluminum vs. original plastic.. I'm guessing good racers like you have here are nicer to their cars in an all out race than a go fast bash fest of noobies, like us. I'm not too concerned with the wear factor of aluminum on plastic.. I'm sure we will be replacing lots of parts as the learning curve begins.

Question is should I start buying casters at $4 original and expect to stock some, or will I be better off buying one set of aluminum at $24?

BTW, all original w/ brushed motor. Brushless coming soon as we master <30mph

I vote aluminium, you shouldn't need to replace those ever again.

That, and you'll never bend the king pins again either. You can go with the STRC casters instead for half the price, though.

There really is no debate (alum vs plastic) when it comes to c-blocks. Alum is much better at keeping the pins from bending. You can bend the alum c-blocks, but it takes a HUGE hit to do it. I have not bent any, but seen some damage from 70mph crashes...

Some say no because it will "cause something else to break" but I can tell you, i've hit my share of curbs, car tires and walls... and nothing has broke yet!

In that spot, absolutely no reason to have plastic there.

Cant understand what you are saying...

The rpm c-blocks let the steering pins bend very easily. Even easier than the stock c-blocks.

In years and years, run after run after run, Ive never had an aluminum c-block bend. I have never had an issue with steering pins in hundreds of runs in aluminum c-blocks. The first 3 min of the first run on rpms, I bent the steering pins. They are not good in this application. Just too flexible. Ruins the pins from light front end hits. Rarely ever have a problem with pins in an aluminum c-block. Get alum.

Show me these bent c-blocks you speak of.

    Got any pics? What brand?

If your bending alum c-blocks, and not bending pins in rpm cblocks, something is not adding up. Check your pins they are probably bent.

I've never bent my aluminium blocks. When I had RPM caster blocks, I basically had to replace the king pins every single run. They are way too soft and will bend, and bend the king pin with them. That's the one spot where RPM is actually a bad choice.
