Aaaahh that is the golden question. Im still searching myself. I've been spending big bucks trying to widen and stabilize my MERV for the street. Im about to order the progressive rate rocker arms by HR with hopes that those will lower or stabilize my car. The only success I've had so far is using wider offset wheels and/or wheel extensions.

black springs in rear and tan in front
40wt oil in front and 70wt in rear
    center diff
    diff oils 30-50-30
set so that the arms and axles are a straight line accross

I have had great luck with this setup
if its not broken, bash harder

What is your preload for the black springs and tan springs?

GPM shocks have hard springs so the only way to get it to sit low is to insert rc silicone fuel tubing into each shock to prevent it extending all the way but make sure each piece is cut exactly the same length.

If you want to widen your merv without the extra weight of beadloks then the traxxas dish wheels are the way to go.

Okay im no rich guy so my set up is quite simple and cheap, but it works very very well for me
    mods:
    Habao pirate10 truck wheels(MASSIVE Offset)
a set of stock rally vxl shock/spring set from Ebay
^(having this set allows me to swap from offroad mode to onroad very easily)
    70wt oil all around
carry-over stock tires for low cost(primary reason lol) and low center of gravity

my only RC buddy has a top spec touring car so i take mine to the road track with him quite often with this setup. its not lightning quick at the track but it holds itself in the corners quite well. And drag race with his touring car is quite fun 3cell lipo ))

dont mind the popped drive shaft, its my photo from quite a while ago
but you can see how wide it can get w/o spending money on spacers. i also have traxxas dish wheels but they are no where close to this one.

There is an easy way that takes like a second to convert from low to high - just get some thin cable ties (zip ties) and zip the two rocker arm together - the tighter you pull the zip the lower the car sits. you still get the suspension travel below that point, it just won't lift higher than the point you've zipped. then if you want to get the car to sit higher for off road, simply cut the zip tie and your back to stock - easy...
