    E-MAXX 3908 Brushless

This is my new truck. I have been running on 6s 20t pinion and 68t spur. I can get over a half hour of run time and never had the motor get over 140f.
The maximizers and mashers work great. The tires need to be taped anything over half throttle and the tires balloon like crazy. Two runs and I already had to put the shoe goo to the body.

What he said. Managed to pull an upper arm out of the front carrier. Just screwed it back in and it lasted the rest of the run. Also glad the lipos are hard cased, lost one in a big time tumble of death. Need a better battery hold down. Ordered velcro straps for it today.

Maximizers and Proline mashers; if you type 'maximizer wheels' into google they come up straight away, not the hardest thing to locate really if you apply some initiative.

In the third picture, the wing is on his erevo, not the emaxx; if you want to put a wing on an emaxx you need to look on the teknorc website- they have a mount. Or, you can use the FLM shock towers, or make your own mount like I did:

    http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...xx/gmaxx47.jpg

Baring in mind I did that without any outside help; heck, I built my entire truck with only the old 3906 exploded views and some poor photos for reference.

The wing on the Revo is a Traxxas wing I think. Not my truck.
I have been runninng the life out of this truck. I have had to replace the rear bulkhead and skid. A skid and bulkhead brace in the front (rpm). A rear drive shft center shaft and both front axle carrier. Also a couple of shock towers.
I have ordered a set of flm shock towers and bulkheads. A mugen mxb5 wing for it.
Army what is the wing in your pics? Is it a tekno?

Nah, it was just some random 1/8 scale buggy wing, cant remember what it was from originally but I had to trim it alot in order to mount it using those long screws and spacers. It kinda looked alright but the maxx isnt really 'sleek' enough to pull off wearing a wing like that, looked a bit funny so I removed it after a short while. Personal taste really.

0 problems with the esc and motor. Works awsome!

Well 5 weeks and 5 front bulkheads later this is what my e-maxx looks like.
The front bumper is a t-bone racing bumper. Love it works great. Front rpm arms Losi front truggy shocks, waiting for two more for the rear.
The wing and mount are a mugen mbx5 and are a direct fit for the flm shock towers.
I also instaled a Hitec 7955 and a castle bec. I have flm bulks ,the standard ones just waiting on the flm skids before I instal them.
Over all I am happy with the truck. I have gone through so many bulkheads and shocktowers I started calling it the fragile-maxx lol.
I found if you use wire ties and wrapping them around the rear shock tower to the rear bulkhead brace saves the towers.

I have mostly run the truck on 5s and have had no problems from the motor or esc. I am also surprised at how well the diffs are holding up.

Here is the issue I was having with the front rpm ware plate. It kept packing with dirt when I was hitting jumps.

The T-Bones plates are great. I snapped the front in half and the company replaced it. When I got the 3 piece RPM skid plate set I tried them without the T-Bone. I had the same problem you did here. At least with the front T-bone the truck will slide vice sticking in the ground with the stock or RPM bumpers.

That picture is about 3-4 years old or more, I am more enlightened about integy now- hence why I preach against them ( my shocks leaked too )..

Careful with those FLM skidplates they still bend. I bent both front and rear within 2 runs. I once saw a mod using super stiff packing foam cut into a triangle and wedged between skid and bulk brace.

Too late. I had them both bent on the first batt pack. Not worried about it I may trim them down.

Here is what the skid plates look like now.

I am getting a rear bumper like my front one so I don't think the skid plate will be noticed in the rear.

When I used off brand aluminum skids with the T-Bone I snapped the front T-Bone in half after a hard hit (free replacement). I changed the aluminum skid with a stock skid and it's worked great since then. I never did like bending the aluminum skids back into shape.

BTW, how are the LOSI shocks?

The losi shocks are nice and smooth. They are buggy rears or truggy fronts. I need to firm them up some ,it likes to bottom out pretty hard on jumps over 4 feet. I have some kyosho and mugen bigbore springs orded to try,

Did Mugen wing mount right to the FLM towers? Was that a Mugen wing mount that you used ??? I'll be using the Tekno mount to try and mount a Mugen wing so we'll see how it goes....

Also do you still run the RPM, skidplates under those Tbone bumpers??

It is a Mugen mbx5 wing mount and wing. It took some prying and pulling but it mounted to the flm shock tower and is wicked strong.
I am not using the rpm wear plates under the t-bone bumper.

Didn't break the truck when I hit the tree that time. Have in the past though. I am running the stock uppers because they don't interfear with the shocks like the rpm ones. When I start running cvd's I will go back to the rpm's.

Put the clips together from yesterday with the tree dinger at the end.

Instaled a T-bone racing rear bumper today, haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

I am running mugen big bore springs front and rear. They are the stiffest they make. One is a 9.5 turn and the other is 8 turn. They are 75mm long. I am running 100w losi oil front and rear. It works well when running on 4s. I need to firm it up some for 6s and 5s.

I am looking at picking up some tekno battery trays for this flm chassis. They are the v3 150mm x 50mm ,wondering if someone on here has them on their maxx? If my measurements are right they should fit.

    Looking GooD MAN!!! Wanna Race!!!!!

I like the shock setup also.. I see that you are using 100wt shock oil.. Is that on par for what is sopposed to be used with those shocks? I read that you still sre trying to stiffen them up, keep us posted as to what recipe works best. I too like to jump my MaXX but with all this heavy aluminum its soo hard not too bottom out.

Also love those T BONES, Does the rear do anything in regards to preventing wheelies??

Not sure about the 100wt oil being on par. I have not been able to find alot of info on set ups with these shocks on maxx trucks. It seems to be working for me.
It looks like the rear T-bone will help with wheelies. Haven't had a chance to run it since I instaled it.

It does not turn on? If not take the on/off switch out, cut the two wires & wire them together..

I'm assuming it's the emaxx 3908 ( black motor with silver fins ) and not the brushed version- if it isn't the switch, then answer me this:

Do any lights appear on the esc or reciever?
Does the motor chime/ beep when you turn the esc on?
    What batteries do you have?

Might be something simple like the esc switch is bad or the esc is plugged in backwards to the receiver, or it might be that the esc needs calibrating to the radio- check the radio settings before you start ( throttle trim should be at zero/ neutral, end points set to 100%, throttle channel not reversed ).

    xxl cvds

I have been experimenting with xxl cvds. I used an axle carrier from my 3908. It is the one that takes the 12mm outer bearing. It is what I had laying around.
I drilled out the axle carrier with a step drill to 5/8".

I was able to press a 8x16x5mm in it is tight.

The inner bearings are 15x21x4mm. I pressed 2 in , The first one takes some force to get in there.

I used the out drive cups from my traxxas cvds for the out drives for the xxl cvds and there is no binding.

Picture with all the parts together.

The next part is to mount some 17mm hexes.
All these mods have come from searcing this site.

He has replaced 2 of the upper a-arms ( broken I'm guessing ) with RPM a-arms, but since those are much fatter he has had to dremel away part of the arm in order for the shocks to clear them without rubbing. Shafts are 6mm, if I were a gambling man...

I had a spare rpm arm so I cut it so the spring wouldn't bind on it. I have my shocks spaced towards the rear so they don't rub on the shafts.

When get the xxl cvds working I am going to try 8 losi 8ight front truggy shocks.
I measured the xxl shafts and they are 5mm thick.

Im pretty sure thats about the same diameter as the Traxxas cvd's, but these give you $25 to gamble with... Plus they give you that nice beefy 8mm stub axle... Whats next? You got an 8mm hub for that?
