    problem with tires

I just bought a VXL 4x4 Stampede and have had nothing but problems with it. First thing after running 3 batteries through it the ESC burned up. Had to wait a week untill Traxxas sent me a new one. After running 3.5 batteries thru it the front driver tire the foam came out and got caught in the rear axle and broke drive shaft. any help?

What do you need help with? Replace the drive shaft, buy some CA glue. Make sure your tires are glued before every run and you shouldn't have a problem.

Before EVERY run you have to check the glue on your tires as well as the wheel nuts. It's pretty much standard practice for brushless cars now a days.

is this a common problem after only 6 runs with truck. Do they make stronger parts as it looks like the holes on the other side of ball joint are wearing? once again truck is only been out two times

I've noticed that nearly all of the tires/wheels i've bought that were preglued are mediocre, whether they are from trx or anywhere else. I guess its cuz they do soooo many gluing jobs on tires, that it would be very inefficient for any large distributor to take the time to make them perfect like you would if you glued them yourself. After learning the proper ways to prep, tape, glue and balance tires, I have never had any fail, so i dont check my tires before every run, but i agree with the previous replies that checking for possible failures in tires and everything else on these trucks is a mandatory part of owning and maintaining a reliable truck.

heres a link to help you out if you decide to glue new tires or fix the ones you have.

I think what the op is getting at is that for $400, the tires should not come apart.

Matwatcher, just get used to keeping an eye on everything. It could have been that a small part of the tire was coming unglued for a run or 2 and you did not notice. Catching it and adding a little bit of superglue could have prevented the blowout. Unfortunately, there are a ton of things not explained in the manual.

Proper maintenance, and giving the truck a once over (and checking motor and esc temps with a good thermometer) after each run can avoid most failures. These things are not perfect. Its just a part of the hobby, and while Traxxas is usually 10x more durable than the competition, they go very fast, have a ton of power, and with that comes wear, breakage, and failure(especially on 3s!). They do not make them bulletproof. Since I started respecting the power of my vehicles, and adding a few strategic durability upgrades, I break very little. That will come with more experience with the truck. Dont give up on it. I bash very hard, but not recklessly. I did not even understand what reckless was until it was costing me a lot of money. Remember, if you even think there is a slight problem starting, stop immediately, and find whats wrong. It could save a good bit of cash in the long run.

Thanks for the info! I didn't think I was being hard on the truck compared to what I have seen others do, just running up and down road and some burn outs in the sand. how expensive are the replacement parts? Do they make the ball joints at the differential out of metal as the plastic you can see is getting oblong just after 6 batteries?

Mip and tekno make steel replacement drive shaft, I guess Traxxas has some metal ones on the way. From what i have read seems like teknos pop it after a hard landing or cartwheel. a few people have had problems with the mips rubbing, but they seem like the way to go unless you wanna wait for traxxas.

After I inspected the tire to see wear it came unglued I found a 1.25 tear in the middle of the tire that follows the tread pattern. When the foam came out it must have gotten caught around shaft to the back wheel and broke the plastic u joint.
