How to remove rust from screws

Hi,

I'm wondering how you guys clean rust off of screws on your RC's? I'm about to buy an emaxx and it has some rusty screws. I'm not really a fan. What do you guys use to "refresh" the screws to look like new? Or do you just buy a new screw set from tonyz screwz or what ever it's called?

a temporary fix that i use is dremel or rotary toll with a little wire brush on it. it cleans em up and then you oil em, they will require re oiled every now and then to keep to em from rusting, or a little steel wool would work but requires elbow grease,
I feel the best option is to replace with a stainless steel

Ohh good idea my mom has a dremal that has polishing tools on it unlike mine so I could use hers to clean up the screws. Thanks! Any other solutions?

For your own sake, use eye protection. You might look dorky unless you have "fashionable" safety glasses, but all it takes is one little spark... or one tiny piece of rust in your eye... and you're screwed. <pun intended>

Get decent screws that don't rust. I use 12.9 heat treated steel screws with a black oxide coating, you can get them at most Ace Hardware stores or you can go to Tony's Screws online and order specific sizes or screw sets.

I would avoid soaking any screws in oil as they would only need to be cleaned after so the loctite will work. If screwing them into metal that is....

Get a can of rust preventing spray paint and paint um.
That'll stop your rust prob longer then oil and will not collect dust and dirt.

I soak the screws in WD40 for a couple of days.
