Serious old fart noob here guys and am completely addicted to my 1/16 E-Revo VXL and my 1/10 Slash. Been hopping them up like crazy.
Anyway, I was an idiot and wasn't paying attention the other day when hooking my lipos up the revo. As I hooked the first one up, I didn't notice the contacts of the other connector touching my motor housing. Next? Big spark and a puff of smoke.
Everything seems to be running fine except for a high pitched sound like the slipper clutch but louder when it's under stress (against a curb or something). The motor and esc are getting insanely hot now though even after only about 10 minutes of running up and down the street. Thought I caught a wisp of smoke from the motor the other day too.
If it's toast, someone recommend a nice replacement?
