Darn it, broke an axle carrier today!

Well, it had to happen. Broke an axle carrier today. Was having a blast in front of my house driving like a madman. Started a nice drift around a manhole cover and nailed a crack in the pavement and sent the car tumbling. In the mad barrel rolls, this black piece goes flying out (that's not good I thought to myself) and disappears onto my lawn. I never found it. Grab the car and my left rear rim is missing a chunk out of the side and the wheel is angled funny. Remove the wheel and body and found the axle carrier is broken where the clip holds the lower ball in place.

Can anyone recommend a good replacement part or just stick with the Traxxas stock parts?

Rpm is the way to go. Cheap, works great, doesn't break, very adjustable and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Read the tech notes on their website though. You will need a very small hex for them.

    0.050" works too.

Wow, .5mm hex. That is small. Thanks for the suggestion folks. Off to the interwebs to find some.

Actually, 0.5mm hex is too small... 0.050" SAE is about 1.25mm. Look for one of these:

    Found it at Orchard Hardware...

Dear Traxxas, please upgrade the hub carriers. The socket shears off when the car hits a kurb sideways. They are sloppy and the weakest part of the car. Thank you.

haha yeah, I popped / broke those ball joint cap on axle carriers so many times before i actually destroyed the axle carrier all together.

I think also if they use machined hollow ball for toe and steering link would be great too cause plastic ones just die in a day or two
