    Villian IV 2nd ugrade

Well last year I rebuilt My old Villian IV replaced all the old parts mostly leaking old rubber and out drive assembly, props and the motors... I had a set of E revo cans laying around so I used those.... well after a fun season and after many broken gears from the old motor mounts moving so much I decided to continue some upgrades rather than wait for a new EX which is still on back order and a spartan back-order as well besides all the issues...

Here is the pics from the last upgade

And here are the new pics from the new upgrade session

did the Water cooling kit for the esc and motors as you can see I used a EVX2 from the revo and purchased the water kit for that rather than buing a new esc

ran the boat it runs great the water kit really works well the temps are way cooler the most heat comes from the NIMH traxxas level 4 8.4v batts but Im gonna step it up to lipo after I get a LVC...

I got a question for the experts... Is their a metal drive gear available I reused one of the old plastic ones from last season and bought one new one which got messed up here is the pic

maybe it was a bad gear or the mess wasnt good

so a link for the place to get a metal one would help me out greatly also a link for the correct metal prop that bolts right up as well...

last thing the gear that was destroyed was being ran by the reversed motor maybe its not supposed to be that one Im using the original replacement props so maybe they are reversed already ????

she ran great I will post some movies later this week Im using a 14 tooth pinion gear but Im gonna bump it up to a 18 tooth soon for more speed..

I think the next mod is gonna be twin VXLs as long as I can find metal drive gears...

ok well It seems I figured out my issue I was using some 15 tooth pinions that ere beet up or the tips were not sharp enough(to flat ) so I used some newer 18 tooth pinions today and no issues...

Here is the first teaser vid for some strange reason it looks way slower than in real life or when Im viewing it on the I phone 4??? besides the amazing clarity of the vid viewing it on the phone...
also I was driving it for a bout 5 min or so before the vid so the NIMH batts already started to lose alot of the punch... I need to get a LVC and a 14.8v Lipo batt next!!!

click on the pic below to play vid...

There aren't any metal gears available. You're just going to have to replace them with some more plastic units. They usually hold up pretty well from my experience.

As for the gearing, I really wouldn't go any higher than the factory 14-tooth pinion gears; higher gears just increase the amount of heat and also the wear and tare on the motors. Some people run higher, but I've never recommended it.

At any rate, it looks like the project is coming together!
