    Shock upgrades?

Hey guys. Quick question for yall. What are some good after market shock bodies or full sets? I have looked all over the rc websites but can't make up my mind. I do all types of driving with it so would be nice to have a versatile set.

I don't mind at all having to put them together if its better to buy bodies and springs for different manufacturers. Any input/reviews would be helpful. Thanks for reading.

I was wondering if anyone has tried the reservoir payback shock caps that I have seen on thetoyz. I can't remember who makes them off of the top of my head. They fit the stock plastic and anodized shock bodies.

Actually, the Traxxas GTR anodized upgrades are not bad. The only thing I don't like about them is the plastic shock rings. Outside of that hey are reasonably built and do not leak like the stock ones.

Yeah, those Exotek ones are supposed to be SWEET!!

They're made of polished gun metal and come with oil, I think.

There's a company that sells aluminum rings for the stock/gtr shock bodies, it requires a small notch be cut but it sounds like a simple but effective mod.
For the best shock upgrade I'd get the exotek shocks, but if you need stock dimensions for a sway bar or 540 motor or chassis brace I'd get the GPM shocks and throw in traxxas TiN shock shafts, and for the smoothest perforance throw in GTR shock bodies. The GPM shocks have aluminum caps, collars, spring cups and shaft ends, and 3 sets of springs, that alone would cost over $30 (if you can find aluminum shock ends individually) so if you plan to upgrade GTR shocks you might as well buy GPM complete shocks for the aluminum upgrades.

I ended up going with the gtr. The exotek are a little out of my price rage ATM. Seem like a well made product. I put 70w shock oil and traxxas back springs on them. Just got my car together last night and haven't run it yet. but I'll give a little review for anyone that is interested.

Great choice I love the GTR shocks have 60wt oil all around black springs on rear, tan on front and have no complains at all.

I heard the shocks on the 4x4 slashes are weak? I just got one and was a bit concerned with it? Any suggestions for aftermarket shocks?

Read from the start of this thread to the bottom. Should find a little info on your question.

Hi, I have the integy piggybacks on both my mervs. The rods are shorter than stock which effects travel, the bleeder cap and reservoir O rings on a few of the shocks were too big and caused leaks. Right now to make them work I installed my stock shock rods/pistons into the GPM bodies and bypassed the whole reservoir by installing the stock blue bladder from my traxxas shocks. If you stay on pavement they should be OK, but if you jump your truck they WILL leak. Oh and the GPM alloy spring keepers rubbed against my rear HR rockers under compression and caused binding like crazy.
