Summit VXL-3s 3500

I wanted to try to see if I could use a VXL-3s 3500 on my Summit. This is how it went.

I used a 19T with the stock 68T I will get others gears to keep it from over heating it did shut down after 6 min's of hard running I installed a fan on the motor to help with cooling. I built another 3S 5000ma LiPo from my other 2S LiPo's so I will have two 3S 5000ma LiPo's.
Temp outside was 33F (1C).

I think it shuts down at 150f (?) so it was that hot but 19t was way to much I picked up 14,15,16,17t today. I will try them to see what works and post what I find.

I put in a 14T on the motor and it worked good. I used and low buck ESC $36 (save some $$ if it went poof) and I used 2S LiPo's.

It is a short run I was busy all day but it worked.
These pic's show battery charge after this run voltage was 4.19V each before I started.

I have reverse set at 25% but it's to low I will change it to 50%.
I did some slow driving to show it can crawl .

I edited the vid down to 27m from 300 to show what it can do. My ISP keeps crashing when I'm uploading to when I can I will post the full vid. I record these vids with a key cam under the brim of my cap so if they are off sometimes I forget that my eye's can see it the cam can't....
I took some pic's of the power in each sell after close to 12 min's of run time.

This is the ESC I modded to make water proof but the fan is not so I get a clitch in the throttle (skips) when it very wet.

I took it out again today with the stock tires and it is faster than with the Big Joe's on it. I ran it for 25 min hard it it had no problems and ran strong. It flips over on it's roof when I punch it.

how fast would you say it is now?? and does it have as much torque, will it run with the stock wheels

I did test the speed but I don't know if my GPS is working right. It said 24mph I then change to a 16T and the GPS said the same. Let me know if you think it's 24mph if you can tell from the vid's? Here is the vid of all runs and some fun with it. I changed my LiPo's back to 3S and 14T and will try again tomorrow for better speeds

I put the 14T back on reset the ESC for 3S (it can go 4S) added a cell to each LiPo (3S) and did another speed run GPS said 36+mph. I don't think it is right.

I broke a axle just after I stopped recording. 1st broken part.

It wont work the motor and ESC get to hot. I'm going back to the stock motor. Later I will get a CCMM and go that way.

Cool mod!! And you can still keep the truck waterproof, right?

Yes it is waterproof but the motor and ESC keep over heating when I run it hard.
