This is how to mount a Tekin rx8

I found that when I got my Tekin that I didn't want to modify the chassis or foam where the EVX-2 bolts down in any way. This way I would be able to easily switch out power systems for ultimate performance or for wet driving. So I came up with this.

    Original scap piece. Stainless steel.

After a lot of cutting with a hack saw, I am left with this

Plenty of room to spare for mounting

Trimmed down to lenght and the first side cut out

    Looks good so far

    Second side cut out

    Holes drilled

The screws I'm using. They are the same specs as the stock EVX-2 screws except they are a lot shorter. Got a little lock washer on there.

Bolted down to chassis. Looks good.

    Double-sided sticky tape.

    Tape applied

RX8 applied to tape. I don't think it's going to come off again.

Finished. I am happy with the final product.

    All it took was:
    -flat scrap piece of metal
    -hack saw
    -drill press
    -calipers
    -grinder
    -1/8 drill bit
    -Double-sided sticky tape
    -Two new screws
    -lock washers
    -90 degree angle tool/straight edge
    -Patience

That look nice and clean, and I love that double sided sticky tape. Goes on easy holds tight forever and comes off clean.

Thanks for the responses guys! Not sure how I like the Tekin yet because last night as I was soldering everything together, my soldering gun died. Hopefully I can finish the job tomorrow and get everything going. But I have a sneaking feeling that I will love the Tekin.

Thanks for showing us how you made the mounting plate. I am looking at getting a RX8 system, but I wasn't sure how you were supposed to mount the ESC

Mount it whatever way makes you happy. This is just how I chose to do it. The guy at my LHS told me to use one zip tie to hold it down. That did not appeal at all.

Thanks. And I didn't realize it, but apparently I can't post just "thanks" because it's too short. Why does it matter how long it is!!?

I would think that with a zip tie, it would either keep falling out or get squished. And you would have to drill holes in the chassis to zip tie it, and the sip ties might wear a hole in your battery if they are going through the battery compartment.

Exactly! That's why I did it this way instead.
